State Troopers Investigate Murder/Suicide

"WASILIA, AK — Two people were found dead early Saturday morning in what appears to be a murder-suicide, according to Alaska State Troopers.

"AST Spokesman Tim Despain says a man and a woman were found dead as a result of gunfire at a home in the Valley, near Hyer Road. He said it happened just before 2 a.m. When troopers arrived on scene, they found 25-year-old Chelsi Baun of Colorado and 26-year-old Tobias Siegel of Wasilla with apparent gunshot wounds. Troopers said the woman was pronounced dead on scene, and Siegel was transported to a local hospital.

"Troopers believe the man shot the woman before shooting himself but the state medical examiner's office will determine what happened, said Despain.

"Alcohol appears to have been a factor in the case. Troopers say the woman and Siegel were not married and that they are recent acquaintances. An investigation is ongoing."
