Three Dead In Supermarket Shooting


"OLD BRIDGE, NJ — A supermarket employee killed two co-workers before fatally shooting himself in New Jersey.

"The 23-year-old opened fire at the Pathmark store in Old Bridge, shattering its front windows.

"Emergency services were called to the supermarket, situated in a suburb 25 miles from New York, at about 4am on Friday.

"Middlesex County Prosecutor Bruce Kaplan confirmed the shooting.

"Some 16 shots were fired and an AK-47 assault rifle, extra ammunition and a handgun were found at the scene.

"It is not yet known what led to the shooting. The motive is being investigated.

"Old Bridge Mayor Owen Henry told the Asbury Park Press that the shooter was an army veteran who had worked at the store for two weeks.

"He told the local newspaper the gunman arrived at the supermarket wearing camouflage and carrying a Kalashnikov assault rifle and a pistol.

"The gunman shot two co-workers dead—a man and a woman—before shooting himself, he told the paper.

"Shop staff were reportedly stocking shelves when the shooter entered.

"The store was closed at the time and was scheduled to open at 6am."

Three Found Shot To Death


"EASLEY, SC — Deputies said they found three people shot to death in a double-murder and suicide at a home in Easley on Thursday night.

"Pickens County deputies were called to a home along the 1200 block of Saluda Dam Road after the shooting happened about 9:30 p.m.

"Investigators said they found a juvenile male and a woman inside the home and a man outside of the home. One of the two males called 911.

"Assistant Sheriff Tim Morgan said the man who was found outside killed the woman and boy before turning the gun on himself.

"Neighbors [said] they did not hear gunshots.

"Authorities have not yet released the victims' identities.

"The woman's brother [said] that the boy was a JV football player at Easley High School. He said the couple had been married for about 10 years and had a history of domestic violence."

Son Finds Parents Dead At Home


"SPRING, TX — A 69-year-old man apparently shot his wife and then turned the gun on himself at the couple's home in northwest Harris County Wednesday.

"Dilip Karnik and his 61-year-old wife, Mary Karnik, were found fatally shot at the home in the 6600 block of Glenhill Drive about 6:40 p.m., according to the Harris County Sheriff's Office.

"Investigators said the couple's son went to the home to check on his parents. When he went inside, he found them lying on the bed in the master bedroom dead. They had each been shot in the head.

"Deputies said investigators determined Dilip Karnik shot his wife in the back of the head while she was sleeping. Then he shot himself in the head.

"The motive for the shooting is uncertain, but the couple's son told investigators his mother had been in poor health."

Man Stabs Wife, Jumps Off Elevated Platform


"QUEENS, NY — A man stabbed his wife to death before he leaped off the elevated tracks at a Queens subway station Thursday, cops said.

"Amis Cale, 41, apparently attacked his 37-year-old wife, Jennifer, inside their home on 39th Pl. in Sunnyside about 8 a.m., cops said.

"The couple’s 19-year-old daughter woke to her mother’s cries for help and found her father standing over her mother’s bloody body, cops said.

"Cale fled the third-floor apartment before his daughter sprinted out of the building and started screaming for help, cops and witnesses said.

"`She was yelling, ‘Help! Help! Save my mother,` said the building’s super, Elias Suarez, 42.

"`I heard the commotion and went upstairs. I saw her in the apartment. I saw her lying faceup. There was blood everywhere.`

"Cale ran to the to the 7 train subway station at Lowery St. a block away, where he jumped off the elevated platform to the ground below, cops said.

"`I heard a big Boom!` said George Kelly, 50, a retired NYPD officer.

"`I knew something was wrong.`

"The couple—who had been living in the apartment for about six years—was rushed to Elmhurst Hospital, where both of them died.

"`It’s a terrible tragedy,` Suarez sad. `Jennifer was always smiling. Amis didn’t talk much. They seemed like a happy couple.`

"Their teen daughter was being questioned by detectives in the 108th Precinct stationhouse hours later."

Foul Odor Leads To Gruesome Discovery


"COMMERCIAL TWP, NJ — New Jersey State Police are investigating a possible murder-suicide in Laurel Lake Wednesday night

"The bodies of Scott Rector, 30, and Stacy Rector, 28, of Samuel Drive, were found just after 6 p.m. Wednesday by one of Scott Rector’s co-workers, according to State Police spokesman Lt. Stephen Jones.

"Jones said that police believe that Stacy Rector shot her husband and the couple’s two dogs before turning the gun on herself.

"The co-worker hadn’t seen Scott Rector in a few days so he went to his home [on Samuel Drive] to check on him Wednesday.

"When he arrived he could smell a bad odor and when he forced open the door, he found the couple on a bed, Jones said.

"He notified police. State Police and Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office detectives arrived to investigate the scene.

"Detectives found a handgun belonging to Scott Rector on the scene and believe it to be the weapon used in the incident, Jones said.

"They also found a note near where the couple lay dead.

"The contents of that note were not released.

"Police did not release possible motives for the murder-suicide, Jones said, but the case remains under investigation."

Father And Son Found Dead In Rural Home


"REELSVILLE, IN — Indiana State Police Detectives are investigating the death of a father and son found inside their rural Putnam County home Wednesday afternoon.

"The victims have been identified as 40 year old Kevin Boatright and his 14 year old son, Jeremy Boatright.

"Officers say a family member went to the Reelsville home for a visit around 1:35 pm and found the bodies located in the northwest bedroom of the home.

"Putnam County Sheriff's deputies were first to arrive, but then requested assistance from the Indiana State Police after receiving information that Boatright was under investigation on allegations he had contributed to the delinquency of two female juveniles under the age of 18.

"Based on the initial investigation there was insufficient information to result in an immediate arrest and the investigation was continuing.

"Preliminary indications are that Jeremy Boatright died of an apparent gunshot wound and Kevin Boatright died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

"Autopsies will be performed tomorrow at the Terre Haute Regional Hospital and are expected to take most of the day."

Police Won't Elaborate On "Isolated Incident" That Killed 4


"CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA — Albemarle County police have identified the four people killed in an apparent murder-suicide in Stony Point even as they continue to investigate the crime scene for more information.

"Police identified the dead as Noah Philip Romando, 19; Lily Katherine Romando, a juvenile with no age given; Andrew Ross Romando, a juvenile with no age given; and Elizabeth Walton, 49.

"According to Facebook pages, and the C-ville Weekly, where Walton worked, Walton was the mother of the three other deceased.

"Police have not discussed a possible motive, but indicated that the four may have been shot to death as they said a firearm was involved. They would not elaborate.

"Police said they were called to the Stony Point home in the 3800 block of Stony Point Road at about 11:45 p.m. Tuesday only to find three of the victims dead at the scene, said Sgt. Darrell Byers of the county police. Another person died after being taken to the University of Virginia Medical Center, he said.

"Forensic investigators are continuing to process the scene for evidence, Byers said. He said the deaths are apparently an isolated incident."

Officers Arrive At "Chaotic Scene" of Attempted Murder/Suicide


"STOCKBRIDGE, MI — Police say a shooting death in Stockbridge is likely a murder-suicide attempt between a husband and wife.

"During a Tuesday press conference, the Ingham County Sheriff's Office identified the woman found dead Monday with a gunshot wound as 55-year-old Peggy Ila Curry. Her husband 61-year-old James Robert Curry remains in critical condition at Sparrow Hospital.

"Ingham County Sheriff Gene Wriggelsworth says police were called to the home by the Department of Human Services. The agency was concerned when an always reliable employee didn't show up for work.

"`Officers entered the house and discovered a chaotic scene, a dead woman laying on a bed along with a male,` Wriggelsworth said.

"Detectives say the couple's injuries lead them to believe James Curry shot his wife, then turned the gun on himself.

"`Her wound was to the head, his was under his chin which would be stereotypical for a murder suicide,` Wriggelsworth explained.

"Police found the gun used in the shooting inside the home. Dozens of other guns were also inside. Detectives believe James Curry was a collector.

"Investigators are still working out a timeline, but say the shooting happened sometime over the weekend. Peggy Curry was last seen late Friday."

"PHOENIX, AZ — The daughter of former state lawmaker Kathy Augustine, who was murdered, has been found dead in her Arizona home.

"Dallas Augustine 32, and her partner, Jessie McCaskill 50, were found in their Phoenix home Monday night. According to the Phoenix Police Department, there was evidence at the scene that suggested a struggle between the two ended with a murder/suicide. Police said it appeared one of the two was packing their belongings to leave.

"An Augustine family member confirmed the deaths.

"Dallas Augustine's mother, Kathy Augustine, died in 2006. Her husband, Chaz Higgs, was convicted of poisoning her with a paralyzing drug. Augustine was impeached in 2004 for illegally using her office for political purposes. Dallas Augustine unsuccessfully ran for State Assembly. She recently began working for the Arizona Department of Corrections."

Public Not In Danger After Convenience Store Shootings


"WAUSAUKEE, WI — Officials say a 51-year-old woman is dead after a man shot her at the Citgo Convenience Store in the Village of Wausaukee Sunday.

"Marinette County Sheriff Jerry Sauve said the alleged 55-year-old gunman then turned the gun on himself.

"Sheriff's officials received a call of a shooting at the store located at 306 Main Street around 2:45 p.m.

"Within one minute deputies were on the scene.

"The suspect was located just outside the store with an apparent gunshot wound to the chest.

"He was taken to Bay Area Medical Center in Marinette.

"His condition is unknown at this time.

"Inside the store, deputies found a 51-year-old female employee behind the counter.

"She was pronounced dead from an apparent gunshot wound.

"Suave said the initial investigation indicates that the man shot the woman inside the store and then shot himself.

"Two other employees were in the store at the time of the shooting. Nobody else was injured as a result of the situation.

"The sheriff said the man and woman had been in a previous relationship, and had possibly lived together at one time.

"Suave said he does not feel there is any further danger to the public."

"ATTALA, AL — A 33-year-old woman and a 23-year-old man are dead following a shooting in Attalla.

"Police Chief Lamont Tucker on Friday said the deaths are believed to be a murder-suicide.

"Randall Scott Gowens is believed to have shot his girlfriend, Sarah Leatherwood, and then shot himself, Etowah County Deputy Coroner Michael Head said.

"Tucker said the police department received a call about 5:37 a.m. that the bodies were in the driveway of a home on South Third Street.

"Head said Gowens was pronounced dead at the scene and Leatherwood was taken to a hospital, where she died.

"Tucker said autopsy results are pending and the investigation into the shooting is continuing."

"JACKSONVILLE, FL — A 50-year-old woman was shot and killed by her estranged husband early Friday morning while backing out of her Northside driveway, then the man turned the gun on himself a few feet away in the carport, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

"Police identified the victims as Marquita Green and her 55-year-old husband, Clinton Green.

"The murder-suicide came one week after divorce papers were served on the husband.

"Just after 7 a.m., a neighbor who heard gunshots called police to 2918 Jerry Lane—near the intersection of Broward and Lem Turner roads.

"`He had a firearm and it appears to be pretty evident that he shot her and then took his own life,` said Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Sgt. Shawn Coarsey.

"Police said it appeared the woman was trying to leave in a hurry, backing over several garbage cans in the process."

Accidental Death Of Wife Drives Man To Suicide


"BURLINGTON, KY — A man attempted to take his own life just minutes after he crashed a vehicle, claiming the life of his wife.

"Boone County deputies were called to the 3600 block of Akin Lane in Burlington at 11:45 Wednesday night for a self-inflicted gunshot from an attempted suicide attempt.

"Deputies found John Marsh, 51, of Erlanger at that home. He was taken by aircare to University Hospital in Cincinnati where his current condition is not known.

"According to investigators, Marsh was driving on nearby Idlewild Road in a 2003 Honda Accord when he crashed. Marsh’s passenger, reported to be his 51-year-old wife, died in the crash.

"Marsh returned to the Akin Lane address where he told others of the accident before shooting himself with a rifle.

"Police later located the wrecked Honda completely off the road in the 4700 block of Idlewild Road with the female victim dead inside. The car had collided with a tree.

"The crash remains under investigation by the Boone County Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Unit. Detectives with the Boone County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division are investigating the Akin Lane scene."

"They Said He Was A Nice Guy"


"HURRICANE, WV — Police are investigating an apparent murder-suicide in western Putnam County.

"The incident happened Wednesday night in a residence along Kelly’s Cove, a street off Harbour Lane between Main Street and W.Va. 34 in Hurricane, W.Va.

"A strange message to family prompted officers to conduct a well-being check at the residence, said Hurricane Police Chief Mike Mullins. Once there, an officer looked through a window and noticed a deceased body.

"Police would soon find the bodies of both a man and woman inside. Mullins said evidence indicates the man used a kitchen knife to first kill the woman. He then used a long-barrel gun to take his own life.

"An infant, 9 to 10 months, was inside at the time. Mullins said the child was taken by Child Protective Services and later turned over to family.

"`It’s very tragic,` he said. `The neighbors all said this was a good family. They said he was a nice guy, but evidently they didn’t know him very well.`

"Investigators have no motive. Mullins said the man did not leave behind any note."

"INDIANAPOLIS, IN — Armed with a search warrant, a SWAT team entered a home on Leone Drive in Lawrence where the suspect in an apparent domestic dispute and aggravated assault was holed up. Officers found the man's body.

"IMPD detectives believe he had shot and killed himself. The coroner was called to the scene.

"Earlier, a woman and her boyfried were attacked by the man—the woman's ex-boyfriend—in her home in the 3700 block of Sadlier Drive.

"The boyfriend had been shot. It's not clear whether the woman was shot or bludgeoned with an oar, but both are hospitalized. She's in serious condition. He's listed as critical."

"HOUMA, LA — A young girl who went in search of her mother this morning instead found a pool of blood that led police to her parents' bodies, family and friends said.

"The bodies of Tiffany and Kenneth Pledger were found about 6:30 a.m. inside the master bedroom of 402 T Leigh Drive, family friend Enola Westley said.

"One of the girls spotted blood seeping from underneath the closed door and ran to a neighbor, who in turn alerted authorities.

"Kenneth, 46, died of what appears to be a single self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, Terrebonne sheriff's Capt. Dawn Foret said.

"Tiffany, 41, was shot three times, Foret said. Police are not detailing where she was shot.

"The gun was recovered, Foret said. The girls were not harmed.

"The investigation is in its early stages, but it appears that Kenneth killed Tiffany before turning the gun on himself, Foret said."

Police Investigate Gruesome Scene


"CAMDEN, NJ — Police are investigating what they believe to be the murder-suicide of a mother and child in Camden early Wednesday morning.

"Officials were called to a home around 12:30 a.m. on the 1400 block of Kaighns Avenue for a report of a domestic dispute.

"Police say upon their arrival a woman with a history of mental problems barricaded herself inside the home. She is apparently the one who called 9-1-1. What exactly was said on the phone is unclear, but authorities say she was arguing with a man who they believe was her boyfriend.

"SWAT teams were called to the scene, and when they entered the home they found the woman had stabbed herself to death. Before that, though exactly when is unclear, she is believed to have decapitated her 2-year-old child and then placed the toddler's head in the refrigerator.

"Police are questioning the man who is believed to be the boyfriend. Investigators were also searching the area around a car believed to belong to the man.

"Neighbors are understandably upset and stunned. They say they don't know much about this woman since she has only lived on the block for several months."

"Well Liked" Elderly Couple Found Dead


"WHEATLAND, NY — Monroe County Sheriff Patrick O'Flynn says his deputies reponded to the report of a double shooting just before 11 a.m. Tuesday in the town of Wheatlland.

"When investigators arrived, they found two people dead in the bedroom of their North Road home. O'Flynn identified them as a man and a woman between 80 and 90 years old.

"`Our deputies received a call at 1167 North Road here for the report of an apparent homicide-suicide. Upon arrival, the deputies located an elderly couple in their mid to late 80s that apparently have been experiencing failing health and they were found deceased from gunshot wounds,` said O'Flynn.

"`We're working with the daughter who was the one that found them and we'll know more once the Medical Examiner completes their investigation.`

"Neighbors who wished not to be identified say the couple had lived here for a number of years, were well liked, and meticulous about their property.

"O'Flynn says the investigation is ongoing."

Man Survives Shotgun Murder/Suicide


"DAMASCUS TWP, PA — Autopsies conducted Monday night on the victims of a shooting on Cemetery Road confirmed the case to be a murder/suicide.

"State police said Monday that Rodney Ezrapour, 56, of Damascus, opened fire on Kristina Adams, 29, and Tobias Johannes, 37, both of Damascus, with a shotgun when they entered the home Monday morning before turning the gun on himself.

"The shots killed Ms. Adams and left Mr. Johannes with a gunshot wound to the arm, for which he was later treated and released from Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton.

"Autopsies performed Monday on Mr. Ezrapour and Ms. Adams confirmed that she was murdered, suffering multiple gun shot wounds, while Mr. Ezrapour killed himself with a single gun shot into his mouth, according to the Wayne County Coroner's office."

Suspected Killer Served Time For Murder, Robbery


"SAN DIEGO, CA — Two children and a woman were found dead and one taken to hospital after police made a welfare check on a home in Paradise Hills.

"San Diego police officers visited the home at 2456 Luther St. to find 55-year-old Clarence Blunt in the entryway slumped over and having trouble breathing.

"Inside the home's living room, officers also found his wife Lilly Blunt, 33, and children Linna Blunt, 3, and 7-month-old Richard Blunt., according to a statement from Lt. Ernie Herbert with the San Diego Police Department

"Lilly Blunt was a registered nurse and the mother of the two children. Her death was the result of murder, police said. She and the two children were pronounced dead on the scene.

"Clarence Blunt, a former security guard, was taken to the hospital after attempting to take his own life, Herbert stated. As of Monday afternoon, he was still being treated.

"Court records show Blunt was convicted of murder and robbery in 1975 and served multiple prison sentences. In 1985, he was also convicted of burglary of an inhabited dwelling.

"According to court documents, Lilly claimed Clarence was abusive and the he threatened to hurt her if she filed for divorce.

"The documents also show that Clarence accused Lilly of stealing pills and having drug issues.

"Lilly filed for divorce back on August 6, citing irreconcilable differences, just days after requesting a restraining order against Clarence.

"Their causes of death are under investigation. There are no outstanding suspects."

Killer Had Lengthy Criminal Record


"NORLINA, NC — A Henderson man shot and killed a woman at her Warren County home Saturday night and then committed suicide, Sheriff Johnny M. Williams said.

"He said that Roy Junior Steed, 29, of 781 Vanco Mill Road in Henderson, used a pistol to kill Tracy Alston, 32, and then himself at her home at 123 Woodway Drive in Norlina around 7 p.m. Saturday.

"Investigators have not said how Alston and Steed knew each other or what led to the murder-suicide.

"Alston worked for the North Carolina Department of Public Safety.

"Steed had a lengthy criminal record dating to 2000, including convictions for drug trafficking, possession of a firearm by a felon and assault on a female, according to state Division of Adult Correction records. He was most recently released from prison in February 2011 after serving a nearly three-year sentence."

Family Killer Dies In Fatal Crash


"BELLEVILLE, MI — Police on Friday said they were looking at a murder-suicide scenario in the death of a Michigan mother and her two sons, who were found slain hours after the boys' father caused a fatal wrong-way collision.

"Linda Vanderlinden, 34, was killed by strangulation and also suffered a stab wound to the chest, Van Buren Township Police Capt. Greg Laurain told the Daily News.

"Her two sons, Julian, 7, and Matthew, 4, died of multiple stab wounds to the arms and chest.

"The family was found murdered in their Belleville, Mich., home when police went to notify them that father, Michael Vanderlinden, 38, had died in a wrong-way crash that he had caused.

"Vanderlinden collided head-on with Juan Nelson, 45, on Interstate 94 near Michigan City, Ind. Both men died instantly.

"Witnesses told Indiana investigators that Vanderlinden did not appear to have his headlights on in the early Thursday crash.

"Police are looking at a murder-suicide scenario.

"`We are still pursuing leads and not solely focusing on the husband, even though everything points to him,` Laurain [said]."

"CHICAGO, IL — A 50-year-old woman was killed and a 53-year-old man wounded in what police say appears to be a murder suicide in a West Rogers Park home Thursday morning, authorities said.

"A man and a woman going through a divorce started arguing in the home in the 2900 block of West Sherwin Avenue a little before 9 a.m., Chicago police said, citing preliminary information.

"Their children locked themselves in a room and called 9-1-1, police said.

"At some point during the call or argument, the man shot the woman in the head before turning the gun on himself, police said. The woman died.

"The woman was identified as Nancy Nathan, of the same address, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office. She apparently died of multiple gunshot wounds, an autopsy is scheduled for Friday.

"Daniel Nathan, 53, was pronounced dead just before 12 a.m. Friday morning."

Three Bodies Found During Welfare Check


"SAINT AUGUSTINE, FL — Several days after 51-year-old Gregory Scott Testa did not call-in or show up for work, public information officer Catherine Payne [said] that his employer became suspicious and notified the St Johns County Sheriff’s Office that they had reasonable concern for his welfare.

"The call came in at 12:25 p.m. this afternoon, Payne told reporters. Deputies responded to the Testa residence at 452 Gianna Way in Saint Augustine’s Coronado neighborhood; off Wildwood Drive.

"Upon entry, the officers found three victims; Gregory Testa and his parents, 87-year-old Joyce E Testa and 90-year-old Raymond Testa. All three apparently died from gunshot wounds; a suspected double murder-suicide."

"Police received a call on Monday at 1:44 a.m. from a man reporting that his wife was deceased, according to State Police Sgt. Brian Polite.

"Investigators said a family member found Lucy Ponte, 54, severely beaten in her Larchwood Drive home shortly before 7 a.m. Monday morning.

"As of Tuesday afternoon, she remained in critical condition at Rhode Island Hospital.

"Police do not believe a weapon was used in the assault.

"Officials believe her husband, Mario Ponte, 48, assaulted his wife in their home. He was found dead in Seekonk earlier that morning. Police believe Mario Ponte took his own life.

"They said he has a history of domestic-related assaults in Rhode Island.

"Police said the couple was married for more than 20 years and has two adult sons.

"The investigation is ongoing."

"TUSCON, AZ — A man shot and killed his estranged wife outside her north-side workplace and then turned the gun on himself Monday morning, Tucson police said.

"Police identified the woman as Maria Carolina Coleman-Velasco, 49. She was shot and killed as she sat in the driver's side of her vehicle.

"Her estranged husband was identified as Julio Cesar Velasco, 59. He was found dead on the street outside Coleman-Velasco's vehicle.

"Police received calls about shots being fired in the 300 block of West Alturas Street, near North Oracle and West Grant roads, just before 11:30 a.m, said Sgt. Maria Hawke, a Tucson police spokeswoman.

"A witness reported seeing a man firing into a Toyota Scion and then turning the gun on himself, Hawke said.

"Hawke said the man and woman were married, but estranged. She said Velasco waited near his estranged wife's workplace Monday morning. The name of the business was not identified.

"As Coleman-Velasco arrived for work, Velasco walked up to her vehicle and fired a handgun at her. He then fatally shot himself.

"Coleman-Velasco was shot multiple times, Hawke said in a news release. A gun was found in the street near Velasco's body."

"GLADSTONE, MO — Gladstone police said the deaths of a man and woman at an apartment on Sunday were ruled a murder-suicide by the medical examiner's office.

"Police were called to the 2400 block of Northeast 70th Street in the afternoon and found Christine and Anthony Niccoli, both 52, dead.

"Neighbor Orlando Hill said he spoke to the couple over the weekend. He [said] that the couple appeared to be down on their luck and may have had health issues.

"`He told me he had real bad health problems. His wife was in pain a lot, all the time,` Hill said. `They showed signs something was wrong. Because if you go into the laundry room, they used to throw stuff in there. Then, in the last couple of weeks, it got real bad and they were throwing out a bunch of stuff.`

"`They were down on their luck. They had lost their truck. I guess they thought there was no hope,` said neighbor Beth Hadley.

"Richard King of the Gladstone Police Department said the only thing investigators could say for sure is that Andrew Niccoli appeared to have killed Christine Niccoli before taking his own life.

"`Beyond that, the circumstances are unknown to me, and maybe even unknown to investigators at this point,` King said."

Pair Hospitalized After Attempted Murder/Suicide


"VISALIA, CA — A 68-year-old woman and 65-year-old man are recovering in a Visalia hospital after an attempted murder-suicide Saturday night, police said.

"Visalia police received a 911 call around 10:14 p.m. from a woman claiming she had been shot. When officers arrived, they found the woman in her home in the 800 block of East Vassar Court, suffering from several gunshot wounds. Police also found the man who had a gunshot wound.

"A preliminary investigation revealed the shooting was possibly the result of an attempted murder-suicide, police said.

"The woman was in stable condition and the man was in critical condition Sunday morning. The Visalia Police Violent Crimes Unit is investigating."

"DRYDEN, MI — Police have said an ongoing disagreement appears to be what led to an apparent murder-suicide in Lapeer County's Dryden Saturday.

"Dryden Police Chief Larry Pack said it appears the incident involved `two brothers that has a disagreement` that precipitated the shooting incident in the 3200 block of Hodges Road.

"`Just a disagreement. We're told it's a feud that's been on-going for quite a time,` said Pack.

"Police received the call of a shooting around 3:15 p.m. Saturday from another brother who found the men.

"It is unknown when the incident actually occurred because the two men were the only ones at home at the time, Pack said.

"Police were still at the scene around midnight investigating the scene set off a long, hilly dirt road.

"Names of the victims have not been released until police contact family, but Pack said the two men appeared to be in their 60s."

Murder Suspect Found Dead In Abandoned Building


"SILVER SPRINGS, NV — The body of a woman found in Silver Springs on Aug. 2 was identified Friday as Amber Shay Jenkins, 20, of Silver Springs. Her boyfriend, Timothy Ray Pennington, the primary suspect in her death, was found dead Wednesday of an apparent self-inflicted gun shot, according to Lyon County Sheriff's Office officials.

"`Due to the nature of the crime scene and evidence located on the body, it was determined that the cause of (Jenkins') death was a homicide,` according to a press release issued Friday.

"According the Albert Torres, field services captain for the Lyon County Sheriff's Office, deputies questioned Pennington, 34, the evening of Aug. 2 regarding Jenkins' death.

"The next day, Pennington's father filed a report with the sheriff's office that his son was missing.

"Pennington's body was reportedly found Wednesday at an abandoned business on Indigo Road in Silver Springs. It was identified Thursday as Pennington, also of Silver Springs.

"The investigation is ongoing."

Witness Tried To Disarm Shooter


"SALEM TOWNSHIP, OH — A husband and wife are dead in an apparent murder-suicide stemming from a domestic dispute late Thursday in Salem Township.

"The Columbiana County Sheriff's Office responded to 428 Egypt Road just after 10 p.m., where witnesses said Tracie Hensley, 49, and Greg Hensley, 47, began arguing because Tracie arrived home late from work.

"The witness told police Greg Hensely left the bedroom area where the argument took place and returned to the kitchen with a semi-automatic pistol. The witness tried to disarm Greg, but was unable to do so and Greg then opened fire on his wife, killing her.

"Police said Greg Hensley then turned the gun on himself.

"`The stepfather who was there, one of the other adult males attempted to stop him from entering the kitchen area with the handgun, was unable to stop him,` said Columbiana County Sheriff Ray Stone.

"The sheriff said the couple's 15-year-old daughter was in the house when the shooting happened, but she and the other witnesses were not harmed. He also said his office has not received any domestic calls pertaining to the couple.

"Stone said police are not familiar with the couple and it rumored they are from out of state. Police said Tracie was employed, but Greg was not.

"Both victims were dead when deputies and an ambulance arrived at the scene, according to a police report. Officers found four or five shell casings in the house.

"The incident still is under investigation.

"Family members of Tracie Hensley said she was a `wonderful, caring daughter, sister, mother and grandmother.` She has three children and five grandchildren.

"Family members said she always put others first. They also urged anyone in an abusive relationship to act on it and get out."

Bodies Found In Parking Lot


"WESLEY CHAPEL, FL — A man and a woman who were found dead inside a car at the Target parking lot Thursday night are the apparent victims of a murder-suicide, authorities said.

"Pasco County sheriff's detectives think Armando Troconis, 65, shot his girlfriend Elizabeth Behrens, 59, several times in her car and then shot himself. Troconis lived in Holiday. Behrens lived in Tampa.

"Troconis and Behrens were both separated from their respective spouses, Sheriff Chris Nocco said. Behrens had told Troconis she was planning to get back together with her husband, though, the sheriff said.

"`This is a very sensitive situation for all the families involved,` Nocco said.

"Neither Troconis nor Behrens had any criminal record in Florida.

"Tronconis' son, Matthew, said he and other family members didn't want to comment.

"The bodies were found about 7:48 p.m. Thursday outside the store at 1201 Bruce B. Downs Blvd., near the Pasco-Hillsborough county line, according to Pasco County sheriff's officials. It's unclear when the shooting happened, but Behrens' car was still running when authorities arrived.

"Deputies cordoned off a section of the parking lot, and the bodies remained in the car for hours as detectives investigated.

"By Friday morning, customers who arrived at Target saw no evidence of the incident."

FBI: Sikh Temple Shooter Committed Suicide


"OAK CREEK, WI — Wade Michael Page, the gunman who killed six people at a Sikh temple outside Milwaukee on Sunday, committed suicide by shooting himself in the head after he was wounded in the stomach by police gunfire, the FBI disclosed Wednesday.

"Teresa Carlson, special agent in charge of the FBI’s Milwaukee office, told reporters that a police officer shot Page in the stomach, “thereby neutralizing the threat,” in the parking lot outside the Sikh temple after Page had fatally shot six worshipers and wounded three other people, including the first police officer who arrived on the scene.

"`Subsequent to that wound, it appears that Page died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head,` Carlson said in a news conference in Milwaukee. She indicated that the suicide, disclosed for the first time Wednesday, was confirmed by security video footage of the scene. She said of the second police officer’s shot that hit Page in the stomach, `I’ve seen the video, and it was an amazing shot. Thank goodness.`

"Authorities previously said that Page was killed by police after he shot the first responder, fired at two police cars and failed to obey commands to put down his weapon, identified as a 9mm handgun.

"Carlson said the motive behind the temple shootings remains unknown and that authorities are continuing to interview people who knew Page."

"ST. CLOUD, FL — Osceola County investigators say the deaths of a St. Cloud father and son have been ruled a murder-suicide.

"The bodies of 42-year-old Vincent La Verne Vaughn and his son 20-year-old Tyler Ryan Vaughn were found in a home Monday.

"After autopsies were performed, both Vincent and Tyler were found to be fatally wounded by a handgun. Detectives said they believe Tyler shot his father, then himself.

"Friends said Tyler worked at the Gold's Gym in St. Cloud and lived with his father. Some had just seen him less than 48 hours before he was found dead.

"`He's the type where he keeps everything to himself,` Brown said. `He works at Gold's. He's a good guy. He was such a good guy. He was happy-go-lucky. He's the type of guy that if someone walked in the door that he didn't know he'd open them with open arms. He'd give them a hug. 'Hey what's up? I'm Tyler Vaughn.' Just an all-around good guy.`

"Investigators have classified the case as a death investigation, but say all signs point to a murder suicide.

"Neighbors say Zimmerman and Bridges had been a couple for many years and had no obvious signs of problems. However, neighbors also say Zimmerman had been sick for sometime. Sally Morris [said] Zimmerman had a bit a of jealous streak and had been feeling `down and out`.

"`He told me he was going to do something to himself,` said Morris. `I told him 'don't do that.'` She told him he would get better.

"`I think he just snapped.`"

Tumultuous Relationship Comes To Bloody End


"LAWRENCEVILLE, GA — A divorce couple’s tumultuous relationship came to a bloody end Saturday when they were killed in what police are calling a murder-suicide in their Lawrenceville home.

"But it was unclear who did the shootings and why.

"About 7:30 a.m., officers received a call about a domestic dispute and responded to 211 Ashland Creek Court, Gwinnett County police said.

"`When officers arrived on scene, they located two victims with gunshot wounds, one male and one female,` police spokeswoman Cpl. Jennifer Roberts said. `It appeared to be a murder-suicide. Both victims were deceased.`

"Investigators said the man, 50, and woman, 37, was a divorced couple who was still sharing the same home with their three children, 10, 15 and 17.

"RIO HONDO, TX — Investigators are calling a double fatality a murder-suicide, the result of a man’s fear that his common-law wife was cheating on him, Cameron County Sheriff Omar Lucio said Friday.

"Jose Sanchez, 39, told his cousin he was going to kill Marisela Galvez Villarreal, 45, because she had come home late for two nights, Lucio said in a news conference.

"Lucio said investigators believe Sanchez used a .380-cailber pistol to kill the woman before shooting himself in their home near Rio Hondo.

"A neighbor may have made the 911 call that came from the couple’s home in the 33100 block of Farm-to-Market Road 106 about 10:30 p.m. Thursday, the sheriff said.

"The bodies were found in a bedroom of the house where the couple had lived for more than a year, Lucio said.

"Investigators found three .380-caliber bullet casings at the scene, but Lucio said he didn’t have information to release on the bullets’ entry wounds, adding that autopsies had been ordered.

Police Suspect Female Shooter In Death Of Pair


"HARRISBURG, NC — Deputies are investigating what they believe is a murder-suicide in Cabarrus County.

"The investigation started Wednesday when the Cabarrus County Sheriff's Office received a call from the employer of Robert Price, stating no one had heard from him in a few days and they couldn't reach him by phone.

"Deputies went to Price's home on 8257 Addison Drive in Harrisburg to check on him. They said there were indications someone was in the home, but no one would come to the door.

"After several failed attempts at getting someone to the door, deputies forced the door. Inside the house, they found the bodies of Price and his wife Diane.

"Investigators spoke to neighbors and processed the scene. They believe Robert and Diana Price died several days prior to their discovery.

"The Sheriff [said] the investigation indicates Mrs. Price shot and killed her husband, and then turned the gun on herself. The Sheriff also said there were no signs of a physical struggle, and it appears Mr. Price was in bed just prior to the shooting.

"WILMINGTON, NC — Eduard Nagel shot his stepdaughter four times before turning the gun on himself Monday, authorities say.

"Detectives investigating the deaths of Nagel and his stepdaughter, Valerie Kelly, have officially labeled the crime a murder-suicide, authorities said on Thursday. The conclusion confirms lingering suspicions that arose after their bodies were found in a house on Normandy Drive in New Hanover County.

"Sgt. Jerry Brewer, a spokesman for the New Hanover County Sheriff's Office, said in a statement to media organizations that the investigation determined that Nagel, 85, shot Kelly, 53, with a .38-caliber handgun and then killed himself.

"The killing occurred Monday inside a house at 310 Normandy Drive, a quiet neighborhood near Carolina Beach and College roads. Nagel's wife, Eris Hurd Nagel, reportedly witnessed the shooting and called 911 after a neighbor found her distraught and walking not far from her home with blood on her arm. Deputies Discover Bodies Of Estranged Pair


"INVERNESS, FL — A Citrus County couple was found shot to death in a home Wednesday in an apparent murder-suicide, deputies said.

"Joseph and Deborah Davenport were recently estranged, the Citrus County Sheriff's Office said.

"Deborah Davenport, 47, was leaving for work about 6:30 a.m. from her home in Inverness, when Joseph Davenport, 48 showed up, the sheriff's office said.

"The couple argued, and Joseph forced Deborah into her 1997 blue Chevrolet van, and he drove to their former residence, 222 W. Inverness Blvd., the sheriff's office said.

"Deputies forced their way into the home and found the couple deceased in a bedroom, the sheriff's office said. It appeared Joseph killed Deborah before turning the gun on himself, deputies said.

"Autopsies will be done in Leesburg."
