"INDEPENDENCE TWP, MI — Oakland County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating a murder-suicide that happened about 2:40 a.m. Saturday morning in Independence Township.
"According to the sheriff’s office, a 19-year-old woman arrived home from a night out with friends and called 911 to report that there was a man in her house, in the 4700 block of Whipple Lake Road, with a gun.
"She said she believed her parents had been shot by the man and that she was hiding in her bedroom.
"The daughter said she knew the suspect from her job at the Salvation Army in Oxford where she works. She said he had been doing required community service there and that he had shown an interest in her, but she let him know that she had a boyfriend.
"Deputies arrived at the scene to find that both parents had been shot. The suspect, a 25-year-old man from Holly Township, was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his chest in the couple’s bedroom. The gun was found near him.
"Both parents, a 56-year-old mother and 50-year-old father, were transported to POH Regional Medical Center in Pontiac, where the mother was in critical condition.
"She was pronounced dead at the hospital around 4:20 a.m.
"The father is in stable condition after suffering a gunshot wound to the shoulder.
"The Oakland County Medical Examiner will be conducting autopsies on the suspect and mother.
"Identities of those involved have not been released."

"TAYLOR, PA — The Lackawanna County coroner officially ruled Friday that a man from Taylor shot Thursday night in his home was a victim of homicide.
"The coroner said David Jones, 53, died from a single gunshot wound to his head.
"Investigators said it was his fiance's ex-boyfriend that pulled the trigger, then, after fleeing from police, turned the gun on himself.
"Taylor police were still on scene Friday of a deadly shooting on West Grove Street making sure no one went inside the apartment where the murder took place.
"Investigators said it was just after 5:30 p.m. when they arrived at the apartment building and found Jones dead.
"Investigators said Jones' fiance, Samantha Keesler, and her child were inside the home at the time of the shooting. They were not hurt.
"Investigators said the shooter, 47-year old Angelo Rizzuto, 47, of Virginia, was Keesler's ex-boyfriend.
"After the shooting, police said, he took off inside a Lincoln Town Car with a driver he had hired in Virginia.
"Hours later in the Poconos, state police stopped the car Rizzuto was traveling in along Interstate 80 near the Marshalls Creek exit.
"It all ended when, investigators said, Rizzuto turned the gun on himself and took his own life.
"Investigators are still trying to figure out exactly what led up to the deadly shooting."

"INDIANAPOLIS, IN — A SWAT callout ended Wednesday with one person dead and another injured.
"The SWAT team was called out to a home on the city's northwest side after a person was shot Wednesday. It happened in the 8700 block of Center Street. Indianapolis Metro Police responded to assist Clermont Police.
"Officers believe a white male shot a black male in the alley west of Crawfordsville Road. They found the victim in the alley with a gunshot wound to the thigh. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
"Witnesses told police the suspect was inside a home in the 8800 block of Lippard Lane. As officers approached the home, they heard two gun shots from inside the house. At that point IMPD's SWAT and Hostage Negotiation Teams were requested to the scene.
"As officers entered the house, they heard two shots coming from the basement. They later found the person dead from what are believed to be self-inflicted wounds.
"Officers discovered Brian Warfield, 19, of Indianapolis, dead inside the home from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
"Homicide detectives are on the scene, along with the Marion County coroner's office. The coroner will determine the exact cause of death after an autopsy."

"HATTON, AL — A Hatton man is dead and his wife injured after a domestic dispute Wednesday at the couple’s home off Alabama 157.
"Lawrence County Sheriff Gene Mitchell said David Taylor, 55, died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to his head. Taylor’s wife, Brenda, sustained a gunshot wound to her head but was in good condition and conscious when she was taken to Huntsville Hospital.
"Investigators believe David Taylor shot his wife before shooting himself, Mitchell said. The sheriff said a shotgun was used in the shootings and the husband and wife were each shot once.
"The Sheriff’s office received a call about the shootings at 3:45 p.m. at the Taylors’ residence, 22072 Alabama 157. Investigators arrived to find David Taylor inside the residence and Brenda Taylor at a neighbor’s house, Mitchell said.
"Friends of the couple said they’d never heard any violence at the home."

"FAIRFIELD, CA — Two Fairfield residents were killed Thursday evening after a shooting inside a north Fairfield home that police said may have been a murder-suicide.
"Fairfield police officers responded to the 300 block of Tulip Street, just north of Air Base Parkway, at around 6:30 p.m., after one of the home's residents called 911 to report the shooting, said Fairfield police Lt. Greg Hurlbut.
"According to police, one of the residents was walking into the home when he heard the sound of a gunshot and discovered the two bodies, one lying on the floor and another on the couch. Two siblings who also live in the residence were reportedly in the home when the shooting occurred, Hurlbut said.
"Both individuals, a male and a female, were pronounced dead when police arrived minutes later.
"Two of the three children, ages 17 to 20, sat on the curb in front of the two-toned partial brick house, while another sat inside a patrol car as officers began their investigation. A five-home section of Tulip Street was cordoned off with crime scene tape as investigators began arriving to the neighborhood.
"Hurlbut said both residents suffered gunshot wounds and that one of the individual's wounds may have been self-inflicted. He went on to say that police were not currently searching for a suspect in the shooting, and that there did not appear to be any danger to the Fairfield community, but he would not officially rule it a murder-suicide.
"Hurlbut said a handgun found inside the home is believed to be the weapon used in the shooting.
"`We do have all the players accounted for,` Hurlbut said, noting that everyone inside the home at the time of the shooting was either deceased or being interviewed by officers."
