"They Seemed To Get Along Fine"

"BELLWOOD, VA — Chesterfield County police identified a man and woman found dead yesterday in what investigators believe was a murder-suicide.

"A man and a teenage boy were throwing a football yesterday afternoon in the 3000 block of Rycliff Avenue when the man noticed Donna Cheatham lying dead in a driveway between two cars outside the home of David Brogdon, neighbors said.

"Police were summoned to the home about 5:30 p.m.

"Brogdon was found dead inside his home.

"Police said Brogdon and Cheatham, of Chase City, each had been shot, but authorities did not release further information about what transpired.

"Brogdon’s neighbor in the brick duplex, Murial Myers, said Brogdon worked as a truck driver, was a widower and had been living alone and dating Cheatham.

"Myers said she did not hear any gunfire. Police also did not say when they believe the shooting occurred.

"`They seemed to get along fine,` Myers said. `I never heard an argument or a cross word between them.`

"Another friend of Brogdon, Cris Anderson, said, `He was a good guy; he was friendly.`

"`I can’t imagine Dave killing her,` she added, her voice breaking. `I just can’t.`"
