"RENO, NV — Police think a suicidal gunman was on a mission of violence when he calmly entered a third-floor urology office and opened fire with a 12-gauge shotgun, killing one doctor, critically wounding another and shooting a third victim after warning patients and their children in a waiting area to `get out.`

"A witness who was among those the shooter passed in the waiting room told The Associated Press on Wednesday that the man believed to be from Northern California could have killed many more people at the Reno medical complex if that was his intent.

"Detectives have not been able to establish a motive or any relationship the man may have had with the two doctors and the relative of a patient who were shot Tuesday before the gunman killed himself.

"`While we piece this thing together, we are trying to figure out what that relationship is, if there is a relationship at all,` Reno Deputy Police Chief Mac Venzo said.

"`But the fact the shooter went through the first and second floor, made his way to the third floor of the building, would indicate to me it is not a random event,` he told reporters at police headquarters.

"Police were withholding the name of the killer because they said they still have not been able to reach his next of kin."

"Respected Physician" Kills Wife, Self

"SPRINGFIELD, MO — Autopsy results have been released in the death of Rudolph and Stephanie Fajardo showing the couple died as a result of gunshot wounds.

"According to Springfield Police Department spokeswoman Lisa Cox, initial indications from the crime scene and a follow-up investigation show that Rudoph Fajardo shot and killed Stephanie Fajardo before taking his own life.

"The investigation is ongoing until a final determination is made.

"Based on the investigation information, no suspects are being sough and there is no indication of a threat or danger to others in the community.

"A final determination of the cause and manner of the deaths will be made by the Medical Examiner’s Office at a later date, says Cox.

"According to Cox, a little after 5:37 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 8, Springfield police responded to 2100 E. Norshire to check on the well-being of two individuals after a call from a child in the home.

"When police arrived, the bodies of the couple were discovered in a bedroom. The seven-year-old who made the call, and three other children ages six, three, and one, were also found in the home.

"None of the children were physically injured.

"According to CoxHealth, Rudolph Fajardo had been employed as a physician at CoxHealth since July 2008. CoxHealth adds that, during his time at CoxHealth, Dr. Fajardo was a respected physician."

"NASHUA, NH — The New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office is investigating an apparent murder/suicide of an adult man and woman in Nashua, N.H.

"The bodies were discovered by a daughter checking in on the pair.

"`I’m shocked about this. This is very scary. We still really don’t know, we know two people are dead,` said one woman.

"Friends said the couple who lives at the home are in their late 60s. The man is a prominent dentist and his wife works in the office. They each have a pair of children from separate marriages.

"`They’re nice people. I like them,` said one woman.

"Neighbors didn’t report hearing any arguing or gunshots before police arrived at the home.

"An autopsy is a scheduled in the coming days to determine the exact cause of death."

"PENNSAUKEN, NJ — A South Jersey doctor who filed for divorce last week, was shot to death in her office yesterday by her husband, who then killed himself.

"Dr. Michelle Liggio's staffers told police that the doctor's 58-year-old husband, Christopher, came to the office during the lunch hour and the couple started arguing.

"The husband confronted the doctor, employees told police, because Dr. Liggio, 47, had recently filed for divorce and the husband did not want to split up.

"Workers reported hearing the doctor plead, `No, no, no,` before they heard five gunshots. Employees inside the office ran outside at that point and someone called 911. A SWAT team responded to the doctor's office at 7665 Maple Avenue.

"Dr. Liggio was shot to death. Police say her husband then shot and killed himself.

"In the divorce complaint, which was filed last Thursday, Michelle Liggio cited Irreconcilable Differences as the reason for the split. She was asking for joint custody of the couple's two teenage boys, child support and alimony. Dr. Liggio was also asking to remain in the home while her husband found another place to live.

"Dr. Liggio ran a private, family practice.

"The Liggios, who lived in Mt. Laurel, New Jersey, leave behind two children."

"End-Of-Life" Was Doctor's Specialty

"CROSS LANES, WV — A doctor who specialized in end-of-life care and his wife were found shot to death in their Cross Lanes home Monday. Sheriff's deputies believe the two were killed in a murder/suicide.

"Neighbors identified the man in the home as Dr. Bruce Foster. His wife, Marlise Foster, was identified later. Both were in their early 60s.

"Kanawha Sheriff's Cpl. Brian Humphreys said outside the home that both victims had gunshot wounds, and a gun was found in the home.

"The `working theory,` Humphreys said, is that the deaths are a murder/suicide. There are no other suspects, he said.

"Bruce Foster's co-workers came to the Flairwood Drive home Monday because Foster hadn't shown up for work, said the Fosters' next-door neighbors, Jon and Betty Walker.

"Jon Walker, who was getting ready to work on his car, helped the co-workers get into the Fosters' house, where they found the two bodies.

"No one had heard from the couple since Saturday, Humphreys said."

"BUFFALO, NY — In the end, the gifted trauma surgeon widely beloved as a lifesaver turned to violence, killing himself with a gunshot to the head as he was being sought in the fatal shooting of his ex-girlfriend.

"A two-day nationwide search for Dr. Timothy Jorden ended when police found his body in thick brush a half-mile from his Lake Erie shoreline home. A neighbor had reported hearing a gunshot from the area on Wednesday morning, and police with dogs found the body, dressed in surgical scrubs, on Friday morning.

"Authorities had been looking for Jorden since Wednesday morning, when 33-year-old Jacqueline Wisniewski was found shot to death in a stairwell at the Erie County Medical Center, where they both worked. Friends said Wisniewski was afraid of the 49-year-old Jorden and had broken off their relationship some time ago.

"Police Commissioner Daniel Derenda said Jorden went to the hospital with a shotgun and a .357 Magnum pistol intending to kill Wisniewski because of their breakup. Jorden lured her to the hospital basement, where he shot her five times at point-blank range, Derenda said. He then ran from the hospital and drove home, where surveillance video showed him arriving about 30 minutes later.

"Just four minutes later, Jorden is seen leaving the house, down a path to a ravine and disappearing into the woods.

"Derenda said Jorden killed himself with one shot to the head from the .357 Magnum and didn't leave a suicide note."

"VOORHEES, NJ — The Camden County Prosecutor's office says Dr. Payman Houshmandpour was leaving to go to work at Virtua Hospital around 7:30 a.m Wednesday, when a former colleague was waiting for him in the parking lot of his condo community on the 3400 block of Avalon Court in Voorhees.

"The gunman, who prosecutors identify as Dr. Giocondo Navek, allegedly went up to his car and fired multiple shots into the Audi, killing Dr. Houshmandpour, according to the prosecutor's office.

"Police say they pulled over Dr. Navek a short time later on Centennial Boulevard, and ordered him out of the car. That's when officers say he shot and killed himself.

"The prosecutor's office says the doctors worked with each other until about two years ago. Neighbors [said] that they believe the two doctors had issues with each other when they worked together at Virtua.

"One neighbor described what he heard. `The first two shots were like a second after each other, and then he just unloaded like 4 or 5 more shots just like instantaneously—bang, bang, bang, bang, bang. Yeah, There's bullet holes on both sides of the car, passenger and driver side, window shattered everywhere. The guy just went haywire, that's what it sounded like anyway you know, he was on a mission,` said Ron Gorman, neighbor.

"Dr. Houshmandpour was in his 30s, married with a young child, according to neighbors.

"Police are now investigating what led to the shooting. "

"JESUP, IA — A family member of a young Evansdale woman who was shot and killed in Jesup Wednesday night has identified the attacker as a local doctor.

"Lindsey Nichols knew Dr. Timothy Roses, a Texas radiologist, through Covenant Medical Center where she had studied radiology, said John Brandenburg, an uncle of Nichols.

"Brandenburg said Roses had followed Nichols to a Jesup address Wednesday and then shot her and himself.

"As of Thursday morning, autopsy results were pending, and Buchanan County authorities would only say they were investigating a shooting that killed two people. They said there was no continuing threat to the public.

"Covenant officials didn’t immediately comment.

"Nichols, a 2008 Waterloo East High graduate, had worked at a Menards home improvement store in Waterloo.

"`She was the sweetest girl I ever met,` Brandenburg said."

"AMARILLO, TX — The death of two Amarillo residents inside their home has been ruled a murder-suicide.

"The Amarillo Police Department says preliminary autopsy results show Carolyn Norrid died after being shot several times.

"Investigators originally thought her husband, Doctor Henry Norrid shot himself but they say he committed suicide in a different way.

"Toxicology results are still pending.

"The two were found dead inside their home on the 3400 block of Concord, Tuesday afternoon."

"ELKHART, IN - Elkhart police investigating a report of a possible suicide found an eye doctor under indictment for performing unnecessary surgeries dead along with his wife hours before they were scheduled to surrender to authorities.

"The bodies of 44-year-old Dr. Philip Gabriele and his 43-year-old wife Marcella were found inside the Gabriele Eye Institute [map] about 9:15 a.m. Monday. Lt. Ed Windbigler said the cause of death for both was gunshot wounds. The investigation is continuing.

"A police officer was sent to the office after police received a call about a possible suicide. Windbigler said that when the officer arrived, he heard a gunshot.

"The Gabrieles were accused of performing unnecessary surgeries on patients, including children."

"Omaha, NE - Omaha Police confirm that two people found dead in a house at 112 S. 50th St. near 50th and Dodge was the result of a murder-suicide. They have been identified as 71-year-old Robert Anderson and his wife, 63-year-old Karla. The preliminary investigation showed Robert Anderson shot his wife and then turned the gun on himself.

"Neighbors say Robert Anderson was a physician, and his wife Karla a long-time employee at the Nebraska Medical Center.

"Paramedics were called to the home around 10:30pm Sunday night and found a woman dead inside. They immediately called police. Officers found a man's body in the home as well, and set up a perimeter after believing someone was still inside the house. A SWAT team determined there was no one else inside."

"LAS VEGAS, NV — Police say a physician was shot dead and the patient who shot her died after turning the gun on himself.

"Police Lt. Lewis Roberts says it's not immediately clear why 80-year-old Eliseo Santos shot Dr. Edna Almaden Makabenta a little before 9:30 a.m. Monday at her office and then shot himself.

"Santos died a short time later at nearby University Medical Center.

"Police didn't identify Makabenta, but her name was on the blue awning on the modest white stucco one-story medical office.

"Patients and others say she was an internist who had been planning to retire after more than 20 years in practice."

"A Chicago doctor committed suicide Saturday in the Allegheny County Jail, where he was being held on charges he caused the death of a Wisconsin motorcyclist in a September crash on the Pennsylvania Turnpike as police chased him at high speeds through two states.

"Dr. Shiva Lal Acharya, 33, a Nepalese doctor who resided in Chicago, killed himself at about 11:30 a.m. Saturday, according to Ramesh Lamichhane, the doctor's nephew who lives in Harrisburg.

"Dr. Acharya was driving from Chicago to a job interview in Easton, Pa., early on Sept. 4, when he began fleeing Ohio Highway Patrol officers at speeds of up to 120 miles per hour because he did not have a valid drivers license in that state due to a previous drunk driving charge.

"The chase of Dr. Acharya's black BMW was continued by Pennsylvania State Police until the doctor lost control of his car 33 miles from the Ohio-Pennsylvania state line and slid into a motorcycle operated by Keith Brown, 46, of Green Bay, Wisc."
