Gunman Kills Self, Causes Massive Traffic Jam

"HOLLYWOOD, FL — Two law enforcement officers from south Florida are recovering from gunshot wounds.

"The officers were hit Thursday night when a man on the Turnpike pulled out a gun and opened fire.

"Investigators said the gunman was walking in the median of the Turnpike in Broward County and shooting at passing cars.

"An immigrations and customs agent and a Key Biscayne police officer were wounded when they pulled up to the scene.

"The female police officer was hit in the neck, and had to be rushed to the hospital by another officer.

"The gunman later killed himself.

"Traffic on the Turnpike was at a standstill in both directions while officers searched the area for other suspects, but they didn't find any.

"Both officers are still in the hospital, but they are expected to survive.

"Neither the name of the immigration agent nor the gunman has been released."

Road Rage Leads To Murder/Suicide

"LAKE HELEN, FL - The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office and the Florida Highway Patrol are investigating what appears to be a case of murder and attempted suicide. It happened at approximately 6 a.m. this morning on eastbound I-4 near mile marker 116 in the Lake Helen area.

"The Florida Highway Patrol initially investigated an incident where investigators said a 2001 Ford pickup truck driven by Chrstopher Jodon, 44, of Sanford intentionally rammed a 2000 Ford Explorer SUV, partially ejecting the female driver and causing the SUV to overturn.

"Jodon got out of his pickup and `committed a violent act` on the SUV's driver, according to the Highway Patrol. She had injuries that were not consistent with those from a crash.

"Jodon then inflicted a wound on himself, law officers reported.

"The female SUV driver, who remains unidentified, was pronounced dead on the scene. Her name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. Jodon was airlifted by Sheriff’s Office helicopter to Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach, where he is in critical condition as the result of a self-inflicted wound."

Road Rage Preceded Murder/Suicide

"PLACERVILLE, CA ― An encounter on the roadways in Placer County led to the shooting deaths of two people in what police believe to be a murder-suicide.

"Investigators said two drivers became aggravated which each other while driving in southern El Dorado County, eventually leading to the crash of both cars through a fence just outside Placerville.

"The two vehicles came to rest door-to-door near the intersection of Broadway and Newtown Road off Highway 50.

"The El Dorado County Sheriff's Department said that one driver apparently opened fire with a handgun from his own vehicle, mortally wounding the other driver. The first driver then turned the gun on himself.

"One driver was pronounced dead at the scene and the other was declared dead at the hospital.

"A female passenger in the victim's car survived the ordeal.

"The suspected shooter has been identified as Jensen Kohutek of Grizzley Flats by authorities. The identity of the victim has not been released."
