Police Puzzled Over Murder/Suicide Of Pair

"HOUSTON, TX - Police were investigating the death of a man and woman in a shooting that appeared to be a murder-suicide at a home in southwest Houston on Sunday night.

"The shootings occurred in the 16100 block of Bantam Ridge near Court Road about 9 p.m., police said.

"Police said it appears that the man shot his wife and then turned the gun on himself.
The woman was found wounded and was rushed to Ben Taub General Hospital, where she died. The man died at the scene.

"The victims' names have not been released.

"Police said they don't what led to the gunfire."

Three Dead In Jealous Rage

"MONESSEN, PA - Police in Westmoreland County said a husband's jealousy is to blame for the death of a woman and her boyfriend on Sunday night.

"According to police in Monessen, Vladimir Von Fisher, 42, became enraged when he spotted his estranged wife talking with a man in the Westgate housing development on Donner Avenue around 9 p.m.

"Police said as Maedee Von Fisher, 39, and Nicholas Mascetta, 44, were talking among a group of people under a pavilion, Vladimir Von Fisher walked up to the couple and shot them both, before turning the gun on himself and committing suicide.

"Mascetta, who police said was paralyzed from the waist down and used a wheelchair, was identified as Maedee Von Fisher's boyfriend. Witnesses at the scene [said] that he worked on the assembly line at a local food pantry.

"A family member [said] that Maedee Von Fisher had planned to file for a divorce.

"Westgate Manor is a public housing development that is owned by the county and houses residents who are elderly or disabled."

Police Suspect Shooting Was Botched Murder/Suicide

"SELIGMAN, AZ - The Yavapai County Sheriff's Office Saturday booked a 52-year-old Mesa man into the Camp Verde Detention Center on suspicion of second-degree murder in the shooting death of a 62-year-old woman in Seligman early Friday morning.

"YCSO public information officer Dwight D'Evelyn said sheriff's deputies took suspect Robert Wiesner into custody early Saturday afternoon after he allegedly shot and killed Lorraine Long at about 4:30 a.m. Friday at a home in the Sierra Verde Ranch area of Seligman.

"Sheriff's deputies say Wiesner was hospitalized at Flagstaff Medical Center with a gunshot wound on Friday, but they are not certain if the wound was self-inflicted or an accident. Deputies say they have recovered a weapon in the case and have no other outstanding suspects.

"D'Evelyn said no bond has been set for Wiesner, who was set to have an initial appearance in court this morning.

"The victims in the shooting apparently knew each other and may have been involved in some kind of domestic dispute that began in the Phoenix area and culminated in Seligman, D'Evelyn added."

Police Standoff Can't Stop Elderly Murder/Suicide

"LAS VEGAS, NV - A Saturday evening standoff ends with an apparent murder suicide. Police responded to the apartment complex in the 3800 block of Maryland Parkway, just north of Flamingo, around 8p.m. They responded, after sources say, the man told police he had killed his wife and was going to kill himself.

"The standoff ended at 10:30p.m. Neighbors, who had been evacuated as a precaution, were allowed to return to their homes at that time.

"The male shooting victim was taken to University Medical Center in very critical condition, where he died at 9a.m. Sunday.

"The identities of the two victims will not be released by the coroner until next of kin is notified."

Woman Airlifted After Botched Murder/Suicide

"VANCEBURG, KY - One man is dead and a woman in the hospital after an attempted murder-suicide in Vanceburg.

"911 Dispatchers in Lewis County [said] Fred Blevins shot Shirley Thurman, then turned the gun on himself. Blevins was killed by the gun shot. Thurman was airlifted to Cabell Huntington Hospital.

"The shooting happened about 10 a.m. Saturday on Holley Branch Road in Vanceburg.

"A nursing supervisor at Cabell Huntington Hospital says Thurman is in critical condition."
