Mother And Son Dead In Virginia Beach

"VIRGINIA BEACH, VA — Virginia Beach police responded to the scene of an apparent murder/suicide Monday in the 1600 block of Nader Street.

"Officers responded to the residence after a getting a call from a concerned family member in the early morning hours on Monday. The caller was concerned for the safety of a female living at the residence. Once on scene, officers found a woman dead and learned that the woman's son was still inside the home. SWAT and negotiators were then called to the scene.

"Negotiations were made with the man inside the home, who refused to surrender to police. Shortly after negotiations were made, at around 4 a.m., officers entered the home where they discovered the man dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

"The woman victim was identified as Michaelene Martin, 71, and the suspect was identified as Vincent McCoy, 46. Both lived at the home on Nader Street."

2 Dead, 1 Injured After Divorce Talk

"SHEBLY TOWNSHIP, MI — Two men are dead and a woman critically injured in what police are calling an apparent murder-suicide.

"Shelby Township police say Suzanne Moore had been planning to ask her husband for a divorce. That conversation apparently occurred late Monday before neighbors of Kenneth and Suzanne Moore heard desperate screams for help and five gunshots that left 50-year-old Kenneth Moore, and the pair's acquaintance, Steven Zahn, 59, dead.

"Shelby Township Police Chief Robert Leman said officers responded to the couple's home on Burning Bush Court at the Shelby West Mobile Home Community after 10 p.m. Inside they found Suzanne Moore, 55, critically injured with a gunshot wound.

"Zhan had been shot three times with a shotgun and Kenneth Moore died of a single self-inflicted gunshot wound, Leman said.

"Leman said Suzanne Moore has told investigators that she was planning to seek a divorce from her husband. She remains hospitalized in critical but stable condition at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital."

Breakup Leads To Weekend Murder/Suicide

"AUSTIN, TX — Police are investigating what they're calling a murder-suicide this Labor Day holiday.

"Kenneth Bryan Trevino, 26, and his girlfriend - 23-year-old Tiffanie Perry - were found dead Sunday night.

"Police were called to the 9900 block of McNeil around 11 p.m. Sunday night. Police say they received a call from a family member or friend of Trevino's living outside of Austin who warned them Trevino might be suicidal.

"The caller said Trevino was despondent over a recent breakup with his girlfriend, Perry.

"When officers arrived at Trevino's home at the Alexan Ribelin Ranch Apartment Complex, they found them dead.

"Both bodies had obvious signs of trauma."

Three Dead At Holiday Fundraiser

"BOLIVIA, NC — Instead of spending his Labor Day weekend attending barbecues, relaxing with friends, Bryan Dunlop is turning a tree into a memorial.

"`It's our way of paying homage to the three that were killed,` said Dunlop. `They're like our brothers and sisters, everyone knows everyone.`

"The small Brunswick County community of Sunset Harbor is known for being located off the intra coastal waterway, but Sunday, it's making headlines for being the scene of a shooting that left three people dead.

"Investigators have not released the names of the victims or what exactly happened, but according to Dunlop, his friend and employee Brandon Warr shot his estranged wife and another man.

"`She (Warr's estranged wife) left and moved in with another gentleman down here. Over the past couple of weeks, I've been spending time with Brandon, going to dinner, trying to help him get through this,` said Dunlop. `I guess it came to be too much last night.`

"Friends say, the three victims were attending a Labor Day fundraiser Saturday night at the Brunswick County Fishing Club when the shooting happened. Dunlop says he never expected his friend to open fire.

"`Brandon was a very stable young man. I had talked to him twenty minutes before everything happened. We were supposed to go out today and look at jobs,` said Dunlop.

"People living in the close knit community are heartbroken.

"Raymond Brooks knew all three victims.

"`When I went home last night I didn't sleep, just thinking about everything. They are all my friends, I just saw them three weeks ago in Oak Island,` remembered Brooks. `This is just something that's very bad.`

"But as the boating community tries to forget what happened, they won't forget the lives that were lost."

Murder/Suicide Orphans Kids Aged 10 & 11

"WELLINGTON, FL - One woman was killed by her ex-husband who subsequently commited suicide in the 1100 block of Summerwood Circle in Wellington Friday night.

"According to police reports, the victim, 41-year-old Paula Beltre was shot and killed by her ex-husband 42-year-old Jose Ferreira, who then shot and killed himself.

"Beltre and Ferreira have been divorced since 2008.

"The Palm Beach Sheriff's Office received a 911 call from a minor child stating that several shots were heard at about 11:24 p.m.

"The caller also stated they observed the mother and father lying outside the front door of the residence with a gun lying by Ferreira’s feet.

"Palm Beach County Fire Rescue responded and pronounced Ferreira dead at the scene.

"Beltre was TraumaHawked to Delray Medical Center and pronounced dead by ER staff.

"The Department of Children & Families was contacted and temporary custody of the pair's minor children, boy and girl, ages 10 and 11, were given to an Aunt.

"According to PBSO records, no history of domestic violence could be found on either party.

"This investigation is open and ongoing."
