Sheriff Won't Speculate On Murder/Suicide

"FLORENCE, KY — The death of an elderly couple in Florence is now being investigated as a double homicide.

"Boone County Sheriff's deputies were called to the home after a family member went to check on the couple because they didn't show up for church and found them dead.

"William, whom friends called Bill, and Peggy Stephenson, both 74-years-old were last heard from on Friday.

"Sheriff's investigators are not speculating how the couple died but are investigating the scene completely to ensure nothing is overlooked.

"No other information concerning the case is being released at this point.

"Bill was a deacon at Union Baptist Church and his wife an organist for the congregation. Bill was known in the community for his work with the Trucker's Chapel ministry at a truck stop on Route 18 just off Highway 75."

  1. I did a search of this couple and found this website. This is NOT a murder-suicide scenario. I wish it would be taken off this site.

  2. I will remove the story when the Boone County Sheriffs Department releases some information or apprehends a suspect. I will accept autopsy results or a coroner's report as well, but those details have not been forthcoming.

According to the Sheriff's Web site...

"Sheriff’s investigators are not speculating how the couple died but are investigating the scene completely to ensure nothing is overlooked."

    Furthermore, they state:

"No other information concerning the case is being released at this point so as not to jeopardize the investigation."

So we can only wait until they have something to say. Time will tell. Sometimes it takes months for the truth to come out.

  3. Thank you for your reply. It doesn't change my wish, but this is your website.

What makes you believe it is a murder/suicide? Is there something in the story that leads you to believe this, or is it just the fact that it was a couple killed with no known suspects or witnesses?

  4. It simply fits the pattern that I have observed over the last three years. Plus, in early reports the words "not a random act" and "no threat to the community" were classic police-speak for murder/suicide.

But, I'm still waiting on those autopsy reports.

  5. Apparently now the Sheriff is looking for a one-armed truck driver.

    Weak joke. My apologies.

    1. A medium I was talking described to perp to me & said he was weaker in the right arm or hand or had some sort of issue with his right arm/hand. What did you hear about this???

  6. Now that the sheriff has his "person of interest" is he ready to admit he doesn't have a case?

  7. From the last update, it appears Old Bill liked to hang around truck stops.

I can't wait to see this one on "Cold Case Files".

  8. "Old Bill" was hanging out at truck stops helping homeless people and holding church services.

  9. So that's what they call it these days.

Anyway, it's almost 90 days and no news from the Sheriff. The "persons of interest" turned out to be uninteresting.

No suspects, no news, no autopsy results.

    Cover-up.

  10. Dude he didn't hang out at truck stops. He was a minister who held services in a trailer made into a small church for the truck drivers. He was a very kind hearted man that really looked out for other human beings. Really you should learn some facts other than vague news headlines before you post things. Very insensitive and very ignorant.

    1. There has been nothing but "vague news headlines" on this story.

I will retract as soon as they have something. So far they have nothing.

  11. I am from Boone County Ky. I know the victoms grandson. I can tell you that this was no murder suicide. The family said the victems were almost decapitated and other details I guess the police don't want released because it may make the case against the killer or killers. I'm pretty sure there were no details about the murders because of that. And yes he hung out at a truck stop church to spread the word of God to people, but he wasn't a wacko. He was a vry respected man in this area.

    1. These stories are full of "very respected" men (and women). "Wonderful guys" who would "give you the shirt off their back".

Was it the grandson who found the bodies?

  14. Although this blog is no longer active, I am still following this case. Suspects have indeed come and gone but the Sheriff HAS NOTHING.

  15. Tony kline , the guy who was on site with richard allen in the delphi murders (but they cant get enough to charge him), killed this couple. Just Google link between this case and delphi. He left homemade wooden cross on bodies.
Crazy thing is tony kline is still walking free in Peru indiana and likely will never be charged there is a serial killer living amongst us
