Man, Dog, Two Women Shot In Home

"SALEM, NH — Three people were found dead at a Wheeler Avenue home Tuesday afternoon in what investigators are calling an apparent murder-suicide.

"One adult male and two adult females were found deceased at the home – all from apparent gunshot wounds, according a statement from Attorney General Michael Delaney.

"Police were called to the home shortly after noon after a passerby noticed a man in the driveway of 33 Wheeler Ave.

"`We responded to a man being down and determined he was deceased,` deputy police Chief Shawn Patten said. A firearm was found nearby, Patten said. `We immediately followed up with a search to the home and found two individuals—both females—inside the home.`

"One woman was transported to Holy Family Hospital where she was pronounced dead. The two others found at the home were pronounced dead at the scene. A dog was also shot dead at the house, according to police.

"The State Police Major Crime Unit and the Attorney General’s Office were called to the scene to assist local police in investigating the case.

"Investigators said the identities of the deceased are being withheld pending notification of family members. Autopsies are expected to be conducted by the state Medical Examiner’s Office.

"Patten stressed shortly after the incident that there was no need for the public to worry about the homicides.

"`There is absolutely no danger to the public at large,` he said."
