Wife Is Only Survivor Of Attempted Double Murder/Suicde

"WESTMINSTER, SC — A 34-year-old Oconee County man apparently shot his wife and daughter in a house near Westminster late Saturday and then killed himself, the county coroner said today.

"Oconee County sheriff’s deputies, responding to two 911 calls within a five-minute span, found William Brian Tippett dead in the living room, and his adopted 11-year-old daughter, Riley Nicole Dyar Tippett, shot to death in her bedroom in the house at 444 Odessa Ave. in the Foxwood Hills development, said the coroner, Karl E. Addis. Tippett’s 29-year-old wife was found near his body, suffering from gunshot wounds, Addis said.

"The wife was flown to the Greenville Memorial Hospital trauma center, he said.

"The first 911 call came at 9:03 p.m. from a man who said he had shot his family, Addis said. The second call, at 9:08 p.m., was from a woman who said she and her daughter had been shot, and her husband had shot himself, the coroner said."
