3 Found Dead In Living Room

"League City, TX - A League City couple and their son were found shot to death in their home Wednesday night in what police are investigating as a double murder and suicide.

"Police were called to a home in the 2600 block of Chinaberry Park Lane at about 7:50 p.m. Once inside, they found the bodies of Lewis Cantrell III, his father, Lewis Cantrell II, and stepmother, Gayle Cantrell, on the living room floor.

"A .38-caliber pistol was found next to the body of the younger Cantrell, said Sgt. John Jordan with the League City Police Department.

"Two other siblings, an 18-year-old male and an older female, were in the house when they heard gunfire, Jordan said.

"`They immediately ran out of the house when the shooting started,` Jordan said. They ran to a neighbor’s house and called 911.

"According to Police Chief Michael Jez, the caller said someone had shot others inside the home. The shooter went outside, then returned to home and fired again, Jez said.
League City police arrived and then called for a SWAT team, Jordan said. They entered the home and found the bodies.

"The younger Cantrell did not live at the home, Jordan said. His siblings told police that he and his parents had been discussing money earlier in the day.

"Jordan said police have not had any prior calls to the house."
