"Things Were Really Looking Up"
"St. Peter, MN - A four-year-old girl is found clinging to a shirt near a lake in Kasota.
"That discovery led investigators to find her mother dead in a cemetery, and their neighbor dead in his home in St. Peter.
"Darnell Mears told us his family was starting to come together.
"He planned to marry his fiance Michaela Widmer next month.
"`Her last dollar, if you need it, it would be yours. A genuine good person,` said Mears.
"They have a four-year-old child together, named Kassandra, but in the last month, he says his neighbor 53-year-old Rick Tabor tried to get closer to his family.
"Mears wanted to buy a swing set for his 4-year-old daughter Kassandra.
"`The very next morning there was a new swing set on the side walk here, and it said, 'Love, Rick,' on there, on the swing set,`
"Then, there was a trampoline, and Mears says Tabor would ask inappropriate sexual questions about Widmer.
"`That seemed to be kinda the turning point,` he said.
"Mears received what would be the last text from Widmer around 2:00 Saturday afternoon, he says she complained about Tabor.
"When the texts stop, he filed a missing persons report, and that's when investigators told him his daughter was found alone near Lake Emily.
"`The thing is, about Michaela, for her to be separate from Kassandra. I mean she would have to be injured or dead,` he said.
"Investigators checked Tabor's home, Mears says, and found him dead.
"A tip, Mears said, that led investigators to then find Widmer dead in a cemetery in Kasota.
"`Things were really looking up for her, for us,` he said."

Police Suspect Bitter Custody Battle
"Laidley, Australia - A MAN suspected of a Brisbane murder pointed a high-powered rifle at two Laidley constables moments before turning the gun on himself.
"Police in Laidley had been on the lookout for the fugitive's 1994 Hilux ute following the fatal shooting of 47-year-old Brisbane man Michael Foot on Friday.

Upscale Murder/Suicide In Georgia
"Harris County, GA - The Harris County Sheriff’s Office is investigating what appears to be a murder-suicide after the bodies of Christopher and Andrea Holcombe were discovered by their teenager late Wednesday morning in their mansion at 131 Old Gate Road (???).
"`There was a family disagreement,` Sheriff Mike Jolley said. `Alcohol was involved, or so it appears.`
"Christopher Holcombe was a contractor at Fort Benning, Jolley said, and Andrea Holcombe worked at TSYS. Their 5,000-square-foot home and its 5-acre lot had a 2009 tax value of about $1 million, according to records on the Harris County Board of Tax Assessors’ Web site.
"Their 15-year-old child spent Tuesday night with a friend, Jolley said, and the couple was at home with their other children, ages 5 and 1. The details of what happened that night came from the 5-year-old, who heard a gunshot, the sheriff said.
"Jolley said it appears that during the argument the husband got a shotgun from the bedroom `and shot his wife and turned it on himself.` The wife was shot outside on the porch, he said.
"The shooting happened some time Tuesday night, investigators deduced, because the 5-year-old told them it was dark outside at the time.
"No note was discovered, Jolley said, and he didn’t know what the husband and wife were arguing about."
