"LUBBOCK, TX — One person is dead and a woman is injured in an apparent murder/suicide Thursday night, Feb. 27, at a south Lubbock residence.

"The Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of 53-year-old Tracy Don Dennis who died from a gunshot wound outside his home on 3215 County Road 7630, according to a Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office news release.

"His ex-wife, 51-year-old Patricia Diana Dennis, is a suspect in the fatal shooting and is listed in critical condition.

"Tracy Don Dennis and Patricia Diana Dennis divorced in 2012, according to A-J records.

"Deputies responded to a shots fired call about 10:20 p.m. at the residence and found the couple outside the home suffering from gunshot wounds.

"Tracy Dennis died shortly after, according to the release."

Facebook Message Leads Man To Gruesome Scene


"DETROIT, MI — A man who read his brother’s message on Facebook that he would commit suicide rushed to his sibling’s home and found the bodies of his brother and a woman.

"Police were called to the home—located in the 15000 block of Rossini, near State Fair and Gratiot—at about 7:30 p.m. Thursday, according to Third Deputy Chief Rodney Johnson.

"`The man went to the home to check on his brother and had to force his way into the home via the rear entrance,` Johnson said. `He went to the bedroom and found blood coming from underneath the door. He called 911, and when police arrived, they found two bodies, that of a man and a woman.`

"According to Johnson, police also found two guns nearby.

"`We’re still investigating, but at this point, it looks like it is probably a murder/suicide,` Johnson said. `We’re not sure of the relationship between the man and the woman, but it looks like it might be some kind of a domestic dispute.`"

Dead Man Is Suspected Shooter


"WICHITA FALLS, TX — Wichita Falls Police are investigating a shooting in the 1600 Block of Bluff St. that left two people dead Thursday night.

"Wichita Falls Police on scene told [reporters] a man and a woman were both pronounced dead at the scene of what investigators are currently calling a deadly shooting. Police believe the man is the suspected shooter in the case. They are not sure how he died at this time. Officer Brandie Banda told [reporters] that the suspect was never a threat to the community, and they believe he is one of the deceased authorities found inside the home.

"Police did have a witness they were interviewing for more details. The names of the victims will not be released until the next of kin is notified."

"DALLAS, TX — A Texas police officer and his wife have been found shot to death in their Dallas area home in what investigators are calling a murder/suicide.

"Sgt Nick Pitofsky, 47, of the Crandall Police Department, allegedly killed his 42-year-old wife, Vanessa, Tuesday morning before turning the gun on himself.

"Dallas police responded to the couple's home on 1819 Browder Street at around noon after getting a call asking to perform a welfare check.

"Upon entering the two-story duplex, the responding officers discovered the bodies of the man and woman. Both Nick and Vanessa Pitofsky died from gunshot wounds.

"According to the Crandall Police Department, Sgt. Pitofsky had worked as a patrol officer for the department for two years. Before joining the suburban force, Pitofsky was a reserve officer with the Dallas Police Department.

"Local news reported that the 47-year-old had spent several months in 2007 working as a jailer with the Dallas County Sheriff's Office.

"`Nick was well respected by his peers and will be deeply missed by the city and department as a whole,` a statement from Crandall PD read. `Nick was an energetic and jovial person who got along with everyone.`

"Nick Pitofsky was an avid gun and tactical gear enthusiast. The 47-year-old had been a contributor to the Scout Tactical Channel on YouTube featuring video reviews of various weapons.

"In a clip posted online just five days before the tragic murder-suicide, Sgt Pitofsky gave a rave review to a Mossberg 500 shotgun.

"`I purchased this as a self-defense weapon for my household, essentially for my wife,` he chillingly says in the video."

"ALEXANDRIA, MN — The Ramsey County Medical Examiner has identified the North Dakota man and woman found dead in the snow after a Douglas County sheriff's deputy was shot while responding to a suspicious vehicle report.

"Katie Ray Christopherson, 29, and Devin Blowers, 24, both died of gunshot wounds. Both were from Fargo, ND.

"Police found the bodies of the two near an outlying property about four hours after a Douglas County deputy was shot while responding to a report of a suspicious vehicle at 3140 50th Street in Hudson Township, Minn.

"The deputy was also identified Wednesday as Dustin Alexander, a 3-year veteran of the Douglas County Sheriff's Office and a member of the SWAT team.

"The medical examiner listed Christopherson's cause of death as homicide by gunshot wound, but Blowers is believed to have fatally shot himself. A handgun and shotgun were found near the bodies."

"OAK LAWN, IL — Matthew Meier was celebrating his 5th birthday by spending the night with his grandparents John and Janice Conta in Oak Lawn. What happened next authorities can't explain.

"Sometime overnight, Matthew's uncle John Conta Jr. shot all three dead. He also poured gasoline in the basement and lit it, according to police and fire officials.

"Autopsies conducted today determined that all of the people died from shotgun wounds. After shooting his family members, Conta Jr. committed suicide by shooting himself in the face, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.

"One of the first firefighters on the scene Wednesday morning entered the garage of the home on 9809 South 51st Avenue as Conta Jr. pulled the trigger of a shotgun and killed himself too, police said.

"`What made him go into this rampage, I don’t know if we’ll ever know that,` said Oak Lawn Police Division Chief Michael Kaufmann.

"Conta Jr. had spent about a year working as a potato farmer in Russia before moving back with his parents a few months, police said.

"`When he came back, he seemed a little different,` Kaufmann said. `His mental state may have changed.`

"He said Oak Lawn police had no prior contact with Conta Jr. or the family. John and Janice Conta were both in their 60s.

"Autopsies were scheduled today."

"GLADE SPRING, VA — The Washington County Sheriff's Office says four people are dead and one injured following a shooting at a home in Glade Spring.

"Authorities identified the suspected shooter as 44-year-old Kevin Dale Palmer. He was found dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound early Tuesday.

"Media outlets report that Palmer broke into his in-laws' house where his wife and son were staying when an argument erupted.

"Both Palmer and his 74-year-old mother-in-law, Nancy Griffin, were found dead. Palmer's 46-year-old wife, Kristen, and her 17-year-old son, Griffin, were found in critical condition and later died.

"Kristen Palmer's father, 75-year-old Terry Griffin, was listed in fair condition at Bristol Regional Medical Center on Tuesday afternoon.

"Authorities believe the shooting was the result of a domestic dispute between Kristen and Kevin Palmer."

"WALLKILL, NY — State police Wednesday morning are continuing to investigate an apparent murder\suicide involving a husband and wife that happened Tuesday.

"Town of Wallkill police initially responded to 38 Anthony Street late Tuesday night after receiving a request from a relative to check on the welfare of a family member at that address.

"When town police arrived, they found two bodies in the living room and contacted state police, who responded with a forensics unit.

"State police said their initial investigation indicated Michael W. Leroy, 49, shot his wife, D'Anne Leroy, 46, and then shot himself.

"State police said they have had one prior call to that address for a domestic incident, and town police had responded to several domestic calls at the residence."

"DALLAS, TX — A woman and a man are dead after a murder/suicide in an Old East Dallas pool hall Tuesday night.

"Police responded to a double shooting call around 8:45 p.m. at Johnny Club Vegas on 112 North Collett Avenue. Eva Esther Garcia, 47, was found dead of multiple gunshot wounds near the front door to the bar, according to police reports.

"Police said she was shot by Juan Mario Hernandez, 59. Hernandez died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head inside the bar.

"Garcia and Hernandez had been in a relationship for about a year. They arrived at the bar separately and got into an argument before the shooting, police said.

"Hernandez left the club but returned later and shot Garcia. There was no reported history of domestic abuse between the two, police said."

"GREENSBURG, IN — Greensburg Police are investigating the overnight death of a Greensburg Junior High School Student, Tyler Hall, 14, and his father Greg Hall, 44, after the pair’s bodies were found at City Park late Tuesday night in the father’s car.

"According to GPD Cpt. Bill Meyerrose, father and son both died of apparent gunshot wounds.

"Greg Hall reportedly picked up his son from GJHS Tuesday afternoon, which was apparently nothing out of the ordinary. The child lived with his mother in Greensburg and she became concerned when the father failed to return the boy home at the agreed upon time.

"Tyler’s family reportedly called the Rushville County Sheriff’s office with their concerns, telling deputies that Greg Hall has recently been suicidal. Rush County authorities were reportedly in the process of releasing an Amber Alert when the GPD located Greg Hall’s car, Meyerrose said.

"An autopsy in the case is schedule for later today."

"CHICKASHA, OK — A woman has been killed and a man seriously injured in a shooting in south Chickasha.

"Grady County Undersheriff Rusty Pile said police responded to reports of a shooting on Tuesday afternoon at a residence on 25th Street and Country Club Road . They found a woman dead at the scene with an apparent gun shot to the chest. A man has been taken to Grady Memorial Hospital with what appears to be a shot to the head, according to Grady County Sheriffs.

"According to a release from Chickasha Police Department, they responded to a report that a man had shot and killed his estranged wife at 3417 South 25th St. Police found two victims, the names of which have not been released pending notification of family members.

"Pile said the man was in very critical condition.

"`It looks like a murder/suicide,` Pile said.

"Chickasha police are investigating the shooting."

"NEWBURGH, NY — Town police have begun putting the pieces together in a bloody, gun-and-knife-filled incident that left two women dead and a man critically injured on Mountain View Avenue Saturday afternoon.

"Dead are Bertha Williams, 78, from more than six stab and slash wounds, and Rebecca Winters, 36, from an apparent self-inflicted shotgun blast, police said.

"A third person, Bruce Montanya, 60, was hospitalized at Westchester Medical Center with more than 20 stab wounds.

"Town of Newburgh Police Chief Michael Clancy said the deaths appear to stem from a dispute over a small amount of money and a debt.

"Clancy said police learned of the mayhem when officers responded to a 911 call from a passer-by near 37 Mountain View Ave. at about 4:50 p.m.

"When police arrived at the home where Williams and Montanya lived, they said they found Montanya on the roadside in front of his home, covered in blood.

"The body of Williams was found on the front steps of 39 Mountain View, the house next door.

"From interviews done by detectives, police said a possible picture of the events is starting to emerge."

"GREEN BAY, WI — Green Bay police say the two bodies they found Monday on the city’s east side were the result of a murder/suicide.

"Authorities found 52-year-old Jeffrey Fish and 47-year-old Linda Dickenson dead in their Bader Street Apartment at 11 a.m.

"Police say Fish shot Dickenson before taking his own life.

"Authorities say the two had been in a relationship for ten years.

"Since 2007, police say they were called to the couple’s home several times for domestic incidents, often involving alcohol.

"They say the couple was drinking at a wedding Friday night.

"Fish was supposed to go fishing with family Saturday morning, but he never showed up.

"Authorities checked on the couple after Dickenson didn’t show up to work Monday.

"`We interviewed several people who knew Jeff and Linda and it appears she’s been the victim of domestic violence in the past, which included an incident where she received a black eye and an incident where he allegedly pointed a firearm at her in the past,` said Captain Todd Thomas, Green Bay Police Department.

"Green Bay police say of the city’s last 11 homicides, 5 were related to domestic violence."

"NEW HEBRON, MS — Simpson County authorities are working an attempted murder/suicide on Guy Sherman Road, near New Hebron.

"Authorities say 40-year-old Simina Boykin shot her daughter, 21-year-old Georgia Boykin, then turned the gun on herself. Simina is dead, but Georgia survived a gunshot wound to the head and was airlifted to UMMC.

"The husband, James Frank Boykin, found both bodies. He believes it is related to a child custody case involving Georgia's infant child.

"Boykin told investigators that the two women failed to appear in Simpson County Youth Court Monday afternoon in a case involving Georgia's infant. The child is in the hospital suffering from a broken arm in a separate incident.

"Boykin told authorities that the women feared that Georgia would lose custody of the baby, and he believed the shooting was a result. Both were shot in the head.

"`When he went in the house he found his wife laying on the floor shot and his daughter was laying beside her also shot but his daughter was alive,` said Sheriff Kenneth Lewis.

"The State Crime Lab is assisting with the investigation."

"CARLSBAD, CA — An 80-year-old man is dead and a 63-year-old woman was taken to the hospital Monday afternoon after a shooting at the Tavarua Senior Apartments in Carlsbad.

"The gunfire erupted about 12:45 p.m. in the 3500 block of Harding Street in Carlsbad, near Palm Avenue and just west of Interstate 5, according to Carlsbad police.

"The man was found dead in the complex's courtyard. The woman was airlifted to Scripps La Jolla Hospital in undisclosed condition, police said.

"Police are investigating the possibility that the incident is an attempted murder/suicide.

"A witness said he was in the elevator with the woman and both exited—he went in one direction, she went to the courtyard. He said within minutes he heard a gunshot, causing him to turn around. It was at that point he said he saw the man, standing over the fallen woman, fire another shot at her.

"The man said he ran to call 911, but when he came back to the courtyard he saw the man shoot himself.

"The names of the man and woman, both residents at the complex, were not immediately available.

"The witness told [reporters] he believed the man and the woman may have had some kind of relationship."

"`These people are very nice people,` said Vanessa Matthews, a neighbor. `I couldn't believe anything like this would happen to them.`

"Relatives of the two victims arrived shortly after police discovered the couple's bodies and a fight erupted among the various family members."

"COLUMBUS, GA — Authorities say a woman who was shot to death outside a Georgia state welfare office in Columbus was killed by her estranged husband.

"Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan says 44-year-old Tonya Moses-Charles of Phenix City, Ala., was fatally shot in a parking lot of the county Division of Family and Children Services office early Friday.

"Bryan says authorities later found 50-year-old Lyle Charles dead of a self-inflicted gunshot.

"Charles was woman's estranged husband, and authorities believe he killed her before shooting himself. Police found the man dead inside his car.

"After the shooting, officials placed two Phenix City schools on alert because the suspect's stepchild attends one and the man had privileges to check out the child.

"Officials say there's no indication the gunman got near the schools."

"Officers responded to the Wellington Farms Apartments on Big Station Camp Boulevard shortly before 4 p.m. to find Christopher Wilchenski, 28, and his wife, Kaitlyn, dead.

"Police said the couple was in the process of getting a divorce.

"Kaitlyn sustained multiple gunshots to the head and Christopher sustained a single gunshot to the head.

"A large caliber handgun was recovered at the scene.

"Neighbors told police they heard arguing from the couple's apartment earlier in the day."

"FRESNO, CA — Police have released new information about an attempted murder/suicide, which occurred at a Northeast Fresno hotel on Wednesday.

"Detectives believe a 55-year-old man shot a 40-year-old woman before killing himself.

It happened just before 5.30 p.m. at the University Inn, located across from Fresno State. Investigators say the two were in a relationship.

"`It was a lovers quarrel, romance was involved, we are not sure what it was about,` said Fresno police Lt. Joe Gomez.

"Police say although the woman was bleeding, she was able to call the hotel's front desk. Staff members there then called 911.

"The woman was rushed to Community Regional Medical Center where she went into surgery. She was last listed in critical but stable condition.

"Officers do not believe anyone else is in danger, but people checking into the hotel are now worried about their own safety.

"`It's pretty scary running up to a shooting,` said Ruben Gaduno.

"The names of the suspect and victim have not been made available. The incident remains under investigation."

"APACHE JUNCTION, AZ — A couple was found dead Wednesday afternoon in Apache Junction in an apparent murder/suicide, police said.

"Brett `Kelly` Armstrong, 55, and Laurel `Laurie` Armstrong, 47, both of Apache Junction, were found dead about 1 p.m. Tuesday inside a home on 3165 West Foothill Street, according to Apache Junction Police Department spokesperson Constance Halonen.

"Halonen said the initial investigation indicates that Kelly Armstrong took Laurie Armstrong's life before taking his own life.

"Laurie Armstrong was the executive director for the Apache Junction branch of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the East Valley.

"`Laurie's strong community involvement has touched many lives. Our thoughts and compassion goes out to the surviving families,` Halonen said.

"Authorities say the couple had been married for more than 20 years.

"Pinal County Superior Court records show Laurie Armstrong filed a divorce petition last November. The status of the case was unclear Wednesday."

"CARY, NC — Cary police said Saturday that a man wanted in the Friday slaying of 74-year-old Aleksander "Lenny" Wysocki has committed suicide in Florida.

"Investigators issued arrest warrants for Eric Paul Engel, 43, of Durham, N.H., late Friday. Authorities tracked him to Florida, where he shot himself in a motel during a standoff with police, according to Cary police.

"Authorities say Engel was a former family friend of Wysocki.

"`At this point, we feel confident that there is an end to the Wysocki tragedy,` Criminal Investigations Division Capt. Don Hamilton said Saturday in a statement. `As we said earlier, we did not believe this was a random act, and based on evidence we cannot disclose at this point, we are confident Engel is the man who shot Wysocki.`

"A LinkedIn page shows Engel was a lecturer at the University of New Hampshire. The university's website said he received his PhD last year.

"Authorities responded to 215 Trent Woods Way at about 8:45 a.m. Friday morning. They found Wysocki in the yard of the home, and he was pronounced dead at Duke University medical Center.

"In a 911 call released Saturday, a caller told dispatchers that Wysocki had been shot in the head."

"Onelia Canales, Jennifer Cordero, and Juan Carlos Hernandez were found dead from gunshot wounds in an apparent double murder/suicide, police said Wednesday.

"Authorities said Hernandez, 46, shot Canales, his wife of three months, and Cordero, his 16-year-old stepdaughter, before turning the gun on himself.

"The victims have been identified as Mi Soon Kim, 60, and her husband, David Yong Kwang Kim, 64.

"CLEVELAND, OH — The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the man found dead in a West 125th Street residence Sunday.

"Officers were called to 3432 West 125 St. around 12:30 p.m. to reports of a possible murder/suicide. They found one dead male and one dead female inside when they arrived.

"The man has been identified as Peter Ogletree Jr., 24, of Cleveland.

"Police said the investigation is in the early stages, and information is still being gathered."

"PLANO, TX — An elderly Plano couple suffering from medical issues is dead in what police believe is a premeditated murder/suicide.

"Plano Police responded to a home on 2008 Lake Shore Lane around 7:30 a.m. on Monday morning and found the couple deceased inside the residence.

"`From all indications, this was an elderly couple who were dealing with some medical issues,` said David Tilley with Plano Police. `Early indicators are that this possibly could be a murder-suicide. However, we are going to wait for official results from the Collin County Medical Examiner’s Office to make that determination.`

"Tilley was unsure of the exact medical conditions the two were dealing with. The man is believed the be in his 80′s; the age of the wife was not specified.

"Authorities are not looking for any suspects related to the incident and do not believe there are any safety concerns to the public.

"According to Carroll County Sheriff J.B. Gardner, his department responded to a call at 12:40 p.m. of a possible shooting on Joy Ranch Road and a woman lying in the snow beside the road near the gym area of the Joy Ranch Home for Children. Gardner said Sgt. Bobby Lyons and Deputy Jarret Combs were the first on the scene, where they found a female approximately 40 years of age deceased. The Sheriff said Lyons and Combs spoke at the scene to a witness who claimed to have observed a white male shoot a woman before jumping into a maroon SUV and driving off.

"At about 3:52 p.m., Gardner said his office received another call reporting a possible self-inflicted gunshot wound on Iris Road, about three miles away from Joy Ranch.

"`There is a barn there and officers responded and found a maroon SUV matching the description given by the witness, and they found a body of a deceased white male inside the barn,` Gardner said. `A handgun was recovered at the scene and will be submitted to Roanoke to the forensics lab for a possible match. Other items of evidence were taken from the SUV that appear to tie the two scenes together.`

"Gardner said both the female victim from Joy Ranch Road and the male victim from Iris Road will be sent to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Roanoke for autopsies. Names will not be released, he added, until they’ve been examined in Roanoke. Carroll deputies continue to investigate the case, Gardner said."

Screaming Gunman Alerts Neighbors


"PORTLAND, OR — Officers found two gunshot victims inside an Southeast Portland apartment, and detectives believe it may have been an attempted murder-suicide.

"Sgt. Pete Simpson, a police spokesman, said members of the bureau’s Special Emergency Reaction Team found an adult woman dead inside an apartment unit located in the 3300-block of Southeast Cesar E. Chavez Boulevard. SERT officers also found an adult man suffering from an “apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound,” Simpson said in a prepared press release.

"When officers found the man, he was still alive, Simpson said. He was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

"Officials told [reporters] the incident was reported around 11:56 p.m. Saturday. The gunman was reported to have been seen outside the apartment complex screaming, talking to himself and walking around with a firearm, officials said. Police later learned that a witness heard the man screaming that he had killed the woman, officials confirmed. Around 12:33 a.m. Sunday, as officers were attempting to locate, and talk with the man, he returned to the apartment complex where multiple shots were fired. Officials said no officers were hurt.

"Homicide Detectives and Criminologists from the Forensic Evidence Division are on scene oinvestigation. An autopsy on the woman will be performed Sunday by the Oregon State Medical Examiner to determine the cause of death.

"Simpson said there is no longer a risk to the neighborhood."

Police Tip Leads To Discovery Of Bodies


"ERIE, PA — Erie police responded to a double deadly shooting incident Saturday night on Erie's west side. Officers confirmed they found two victims, a man and a woman, dead inside a home at 1713 Plum Street.

"It started just before 10:30 PM when someone flagged down a car to say they witnessed a shooting and wanted to speak with police. Police worked from that tip and found the victims at the Plum Street home.

"A distraught family member, believed to be the couple's daughter, arrived at the home a few minutes after police began the investigation. Officers on the scene called for the Erie County Coroner's office to respond as well.

"Erie police officials confirmed that the deaths are believed to be the result of a murder/suicide. They did not identify the victims."

Cable Guy Hears Shots, Witnesses Suicide


"SACRAMENTO, CA — Two people are dead in an apparent murder-suicide in the Vineyard area of Sacramento.

"A cable company worker told authorities he was in the area of Vineyard Road and Crystal Creek Drive at around 1 p.m. Friday when he saw a man and woman talking. A few minutes later, the man heard gunshots and went to see what had happened. He saw the woman lying on the ground and saw the man shoot himself, said Sgt. Ramos, a sheriff’s department spokesperson.

"The man said the two weren’t fighting verbally or physically prior to the shootings.

"It’s unknown how the two people were linked."

"According to a Bloomington Police news released, when officers arrived they found a dead 76-year-old female and a dead 77-year-old male in one of the rooms.

"Both had been shot.

Paper Carrier Finds Ominous Note


"PLATTSBURGH, NY — A husband and wife are dead following an early morning murder/suicide in the City of Plattsburgh.

"In a media release, Plattsburgh Police Chief Desmond Racicot said a paper carrier called 911 after seeing a note posted on the door of a Maryland Road home advising of a murder/suicide.

"Racicot said the call came in 5:10 am on Monday. Responding officers entered the home and found 61-year-old Ann Cashman deceased in a bedroom. She suffered gunshots wounds.

"A note found inside the home directed officers to the city marina parking lot on Dock Street, where officers located a pickup truck matching the description of the vehicle missing from the home.

"Police cordoned off the marina and called in the department’s special response team. Utilizing armored rescue vehicles, the team located 63-year-old Wayne Cashman deceased a short distance from the truck. Police say he suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

"Police say the investigation is ongoing and they’re still trying to figure out a motive."

"MacNaughton said the death of Hallie James Pringle, 34, was ruled a suicide by gunshot wounds to the head.

"The Larimer County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call of a possible shooting at a residence along the 12000 block of County Road 9 at 6:02 p.m. Friday, according to a release Saturday morning. Upon arriving, deputies found Pringle and Olivas deceased inside the residence.

"He Heard His Mother Scream"


"AUGUSTA, KS — Two people have died in Augusta in what police are calling a murder\suicide.

"A boy called 911 at 9:41 p.m. Thursday to report shots being fired in the house at 1235 Helen in Augusta, said Tyler Brewer, director of public safety in Augusta.

"`He had locked himself in a bedroom,` Brewer said. `He heard his mother scream.`

"The dispatcher was able to talk the boy into crawling out a bedroom window to get to safety, Brewer said, and officers were on the scene within three minutes. They heard no gunshots following their arrival.

"After there was no response from inside even after authorities used a bullhorn to try to communicate, Brewer said, a special services tactical team entered the house on the southwest corner of Summit and Helen a few blocks west of State Street and found a man and woman dead inside.

"They have been identified as Gary Weaver, 45, and Erin Weaver, 31. The boy who called 911 is safe, Brewer said. No other children were inside the house when police arrived.

"There was no previous history of domestic violence or other police calls at that residence, Brewer said.

"It’s the first murder in Augusta since 2010, he said."

"DEFIANCE, OH — Four people were found dead Thursday night in what Defiance County sheriff's deputies called a triple murder/suicide.

"Dead are Robert Garza, Sr.; his wife, Christine Garza; daughter, Zoila Garza, and granddaughter, Rebecca Garza. Their ages were not released.

"Deputies said Mr. Garza was the perpetrator, adding that they will continue to interview family members, neighbors, and friends.

"The family was last seen about 3 p.m. Wednesday. The bodies were discovered at a residence on 25237 Bowman Road, south of Defiance, by a family member who was checking on their welfare. Authorities were called about 8:30 p.m. Thursday.

"TEMPLE, GA — Two children and a man were found dead in a Carroll County home on Thursday, authorities said.

"According to Chief Deputy Brian Robinson of the Carroll County Sheriff's Office, the bodies were discovered at a home on 485 Willow Lane in Temple.

"Authorities believe the man killed his two children, about 9 and 12 years of age, before committing suicide. All three died of gunshot wounds, Robinson said.

"Offices received a call around 3 p.m. from the man's employer stating that he hadn't been to work in several days, which they said was unlike him.

"`We just came out here to do a concern for welfare,` Robinson said. `The doors were locked -- as you can see, the vehicles were in the driveway. We contacted the school about the children. They had not been to school in a couple of days.`

"The man's wife was out of the state at the time. Police said the couple are separated, but still married."

Police Find Bodies After Forced Entry Into Condo


"OCEANSIDE, CA — Police are investigating the discovery of two bodies inside an Oceanside home Thursday.

"A neighbor contacted Oceanside police at about 10:40 a.m. to check on a home in the Arbor Hills condominium complex at 432 Edgehill Lane.

"When police arrived, officers found the place locked. Both a front door and a sliding glass door were locked and the blinds were drawn.

"An officer looked through a bedroom window and saw what he believed was a person on the floor. After no one responded to the officer's attempt to make contact, officers forced entry found a white man and a black woman dead.

"The deceased appeared to be in their late 40s or early 50s. Police believe the man and woman were likely residents of the home.

"Police said the incident is under investigation, but `at this time it appears to be a murder/suicide.`"

"Agents says 68-year old Edward Pastizzo was found on the front porch of his Thrasher Road home and his wife 66-year old Anne Pastizzo was found inside the home by their son.

"Pastizzo is believed to have shot his wife and then called his son and told him he had done a bad thing before he shot himself.

"Special-Agent-in-Charge Danny Jackson says autopsies will be performed on both on Wednesday.

"Jackson says investigators still don't know what led to Pastizzo to shoot his wife."

"FRANKLIN, IN — A man killed himself before police could arrest him overnight in Johnson County after he shot and killed a 19-year-old woman and another person, and injured two other people, investigators confirmed.

"The Franklin Police Department said at roughly 10:30 p.m. Monday, a shooting was reported on 2155 Bridlewood Drive.

"Franklin police chief Tim O'Sullivan told [reporters] a domestic issue between exes led Andrew Parish, 21, to an altercation at his ex-girlfriend's home.

"Investigators said the situation escalated, prompting someone from the house to run across the street to ask for help from a neighbor.

"Neighbor Ernest Jasper and his two sons responded to the home to help.

"Police said Parish fatally shot his ex-girlfriend's roommate—19-year-old Sara Davidson—and injured three others—Jasper, one of his sons, and the ex-girlfriend's mother.

"Jasper was on life support at the hospital, but he was pronounced dead Tuesday morning. His son remained in the hospital in stable condition. The mother was treated and released.

"Police were able to track down Parish 2 to 3 miles northwest of Franklin. After neighbors reported seeing a suspicious car near grain bins on a property along the 2500 block of County Road 400 North, police found it and confirmed it was the same type of vehicle they were looking for.

"As they approached the car on foot, investigators said they recognized him as the suspect, but he shot and killed himself with a rifle. The Johnson County Sheriff's Office and the county coroner's office both assisted police in investigating the scene.

"Police said the crime was premeditated and Parish left a suicide note."

"VANCOUVER, WA — Two men died Monday in a workplace shooting at a paint distribution warehouse in Vancouver. A company employee reportedly shot a manager, and police say it appears he later turned the gun on himself.

"The shooting was reported at 11:29 a.m. Monday at Benjamin Moore Paints, 1800 W. Fourth Plain Blvd. The business is located in the Westside Business Center, a multi-tenant building on the city’s industrial west side.

"A caller to 911 reported that an employee of the business had come to work on his day off and shot his boss, according to emergency radio traffic.

"Ryan Momeny, 45, a logistics manager at the warehouse, was reported lying on the ground in front of another business in the complex. He died at the scene, according to Vancouver police.

"After police arrived, they quickly located and surrounded a parked 2001 red Acura described as belonging to the shooter. It was in the parking lot of the complex near the intersection of 28th and Thompson streets. Police could see the Acura’s windows fogging, but got no response from the person inside the car, according to radio traffic.

"After breaking out the Acura’s window, they approached and saw a man deceased inside the car. He was later identified by Vancouver police as Robert R. Brown, 64, a driver for the company.

"Vancouver police said they don't suspect any other shooter was involved."

Police Find Bodies, Gun In Home


"RINGWOOD, NJ — Authorities have identified the two men who were killed in a murder/suicide and discovered overnight Sunday in a house on Cupsaw Drive.

"Chief Assistant Passaic County Prosecutor Michael DeMarco said in a statement that borough police found the bodies of Seth Gunar, 43, and Christopher Coogan, 23, inside the residence just before 1 a.m. Monday. Both had apparent gunshot wounds, he said.

"Police recovered a handgun and spent shell casings and will be conducting a ballistics examination. The medical examiner is expected to perform autopsies late Monday.

"Police Chief Bernard Lombardo confirmed that the incident was a murder/suicide. He stressed that there was no threat to the public and referred all questions to the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office."

Family Friend Finds Bodies Of Couple


"PORT ARTHUR, TX — Port Arthur Police are investigating what they say is a possible murder/suicide involving a husband and wife.

"Investigators said when 46 year old Jimmie Jenkinson and 44 year old Angelique Jenkinson didn't show up to a family friend's house Saturday. When they couldn't be reached by phone, the friend went to check on them at their home on 2801 Beldon Dr. in Port Arthur and discovered their bodies.

"Police said they got the call around 2:30 p.m. Saturday from the friend. When they arrived, they discovered both Angelique and Jimmie Jenkinson with gunshot wounds. Investigators said they do not believe anyone else was involved.

"Police said Jimmie Jenkinson was a former deputy for the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office. A spokesman for the sheriff's office said Jenkinson resigned last spring while he was under investigation for a family violence incident and later was acquitted. A neighbor told [reporters] he's heard the couple yelling in the yard before.

"`It is my understanding that there has been no family violence convictions. It is my understanding the police have been out to their house several times on domestic disturbances,` Port Arthur Police Sgt. Scott Gaspard said.

"Police said the couple married in 2012 and that each had children from previous marriages. Three children lived at the house, none of whom were home at the time. They said the couple did not have any children
together.

"Autopsies were conducted on both bodies Sunday morning. Police said they are waiting for results to determine causes of death."

"MESQUITE, TX — Two men died in a murder/suicide Saturday night at a home in Mesquite, police say.

"Scott High, 55, fatally wounded Dante Woods, 32, inside the home in the 3600 block of Edgebrook Drive before shooting himself in the chest in the back yard, police said.

"Woods was the boyfriend of High's adult daughter. High had been staying at the house with the couple, and witnesses said the two men had gotten into an argument before the shooting near Interstate 30 and Gus Thomasson Road.

"When police arrived about 8 p.m., they found Woods with a chest wound in the living room. He was taken to Baylor Hospital in Dallas, where he died.

Armed Teenager Shoots Himself During SWAT Standoff


"HIGHLANDS RANCH, CO — Deputies are now investigating the deaths of a woman and a teen-age boy as a murder/suicide following a standoff at a Highlands Ranch home Friday night.

"`We're investigating it as a murder/suicide,` Dep. Chad Teller, spokesman for the Douglas County Sheriff's Department. `We believe this is an isolated incident and that it was family related.`

"One woman was killed and a second woman was injured Friday night at a home in Highlands Ranch. The male teen-ager was also found dead, Teller said.

"The dead woman's boyfriend told [reporters] that she was the teenager's mother and that an argument over his medication preceeded the shooting.

"The boyfriend said the injured woman was the dead woman's oldest daughter. She injured her back jumping out of a window to escape.

"Investigators have not released the identities of the two dead people.

"Douglas County Sheriff's deputies and SWAT were called to Old Stone Drive and Fox Hunt Circle before 8 p.m. after a report of a shooting, according to Ron Hanavan, Douglas County sheriff's spokesman.

"A barricade situation followed until about midnight and a juvenile male was reported to be holed up in the house. The suspect did not fire a weapon at SWAT team members and the officers did not fire upon the house, Teller said.

"Deputies tried in various ways to communicate with the armed party, but received no response. It's not known when the teenager was shot or how it happened."

Lady Shooter Pronounced Dead At Scene


"DORA, AL — A Dora woman is dead after she shot her husband twice and then turned the gun on herself, a Jefferson County Sheriff's Office spokesman said.

"Sheriff's deputies responded to a call shortly after 3 p.m. in the 3900 block of Stephanie Drive. A man had called to report that his wife shot him twice as he tried to leave their home and then shot herself, Chief Deputy Randy Christian said.

"Rescue crews arrived and pronounced the woman dead at the scene. The man was taken to a local hospital, and his condition is unknown. Their identities have not been released."
