Lady Shooter Burns Down The House
"LIVE OAK, FL — Investigators with the state fire marshal’s office on Monday found the gun they believe was used in an attempted murder-suicide that left former SHS principal Clyde Sperring hospitalized and his wife dead.
"The small caliber handgun was located around 10 a.m. in the living room of the US 129 South home, near a body presumed to be that of Sperring’s wife, Beth.
"Cameron said an autopsy had not been completed, but believes it to be that of Beth Sperring.
"The body was burned beyond recognition in the fire that began at about 10 p.m. Saturday, soon after the shooting, authorities believe.
"The investigation continues, but Cameron said he believes that Beth Sperring, 59, shot Clyde Sperring, 60, twice, then used an accelerant to start the fire before taking her own life. Cameron said the body was found sitting on a sofa in the living room.
"Clyde Sperring, who called 911, was found by sheriff’s deputies in a bedroom located next to the living room.
"Deputies and a family friend broke out a bedroom window and found him covered with some sort of blanket to protect himself from the smoke and flames, Cameron said. He said the heat and smoke were so intense that his deputies had to be treated for smoke inhalation.
"Beth Sperring worked at Shands Live Oak and the Suwannee County Health Department before that. Those close to the situation said that Beth Sperring had placed several dogs inside a vehicle on the property with a note asking that they be taken care of. Cameron confirmed that there were dogs found inside a vehicle and that there were `what I believe to be written plans.`"

Accident Or Murder/Suicide?
"LAFAYETTE, CO — Lafayette police are investigating a possible murder-suicide after finding two bodies in a garage in the 1500 block of Harvest Drive. Police visited the home at about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday on a welfare check after a woman living at the residence failed to show up for work.
"Upon arrival, officers founds lights on in the home and observed a TV was on in a second-story room. After unsuccessful attempts to verbally contact anyone inside and banging on the door, officers began looking through windows of the home, police said. When they made their way to the garage, officers noticed condensation on the glass of the garage door. By shining their flashlights into the garage, officers were able to observe a pair of legs protruding from a vehicle inside.
"Officers accessed the garage, which was filled with exhaust fumes. After airing out the room, officers discovered the deceased bodies of an adult woman and a young girl, estimated at 9 or 10 years old, police said. Neither victim has been identified. Police have yet to notify next of kin.
"`At this time, we don't know if it was a murder-suicide or if this was an accident,` Lafayette Police Cmdr. Gene McCausey said, adding that the bright red skin tone of both victims is consistent with carbon monoxide poisoning.
"When officers entered the garage, the vehicle was no longer running. Police said they believe that it ran out of fuel while idling."

"DOWNINGTOWN, PA — Two people are dead from gunshot wounds in what police are calling a murder-suicide.
"Police discovered the bodies of Mary Elizabeth Reck, 20, and her boyfriend, Kevin Smith, 22, around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 300 block of Jefferson Avenue, said Downingtown Police Chief James McGowan. Police were contacted earlier that day by Reck's father, who told police that she had not returned home after visiting Smith's house the night before, McGowan said during a press conference Wednesday afternoon.
"When police first checked the residence, they found the doors locked and windows covered, McGowan said, adding that no one answered the door when police knocked.
"Police returned to the residence a half hour later when someone contacted them and said a person was observed lying on the floor of the residence, McGowan said.
"Both were pronounced dead on the scene from gunshot wounds. Police found a semi-automatic handgun in the residence which police have confirmed was legally registered to Smith.
"Reck was found with five gunshot wounds and Smith with one. Police believe Smith shot Reck, of the 1100 block of West Chester Pike, and then shot himself in the head, McGowan said. It is unknown why Smith shot Reck, McGowan said, and police are still working to establish a timeframe for the deaths. McGowan said police had no contact with either party in the past, and police were never before summoned to the residence.
"Reck and Smith had been dating for some time, McGowan said, though he could not offer specifics."

Three Shot In Apartment Building
"SHERMAN, TX — Three men were shot and killed Monday at the Eastside Garden Apartment Complex. The first 911 call came in at 1:11 p.m. When Sherman police arrived, they found three men had been shot inside one of the apartments.
"Sherman police Sgt. Bruce Dawsey said that they found two of the men inside the apartment dead and a third man still alive. A family member said the third man died at Parkland Hospital in Dallas. He was flown to Parkland Hospital on Monday.
"The case is tentatively being called and investigated as a murder/suicide, Dawsey said. He added that the suspected perpetrator was one of the two who was pronounced dead at the scene.
"Several neighbors said only that they heard shots fired and that when they soon looked outside, they saw police surrounding the area, one officer on his knees on the south side of the complex and others scattered about.
"Police have not released the names of the three men or any other information about them, nor was Dawsey able to say anything about the wounds or the weapon used in the crime. The two deceased men's bodies will be taken to a medical examiner's office for autopsy, Dawsey said.
"Crime scene tape went up around the entire parking lot and included the apartment door. Other residents sat or stood outside their apartments, behind the yellow crime scene tapes, and watched for hours as Sherman Police Department's full criminal investigation force and several patrol officers worked the scene. Around the corner, facing Odneal Street, residents gathered on the outside stoops. Across the street, children watched and played, as they had the day off from classes.
"The apartment complex is in the 1000 block of Odneal, between Willow and Hazelwood streets."
