Home Invader Found Dead After Shooting Two
"MOUNT GILEAD, NC A suspect is among two people dead following a home invasion and shooting in Montgomery County early Tuesday, deputies said. Another person was injured, and the suspect search led to school delays.
"The incident was reported around 3:20 a.m. on Highway 109 a few miles north of Mount Gilead. Montgomery County deputies said two people were shot inside the home, and a third home invasion victim fled the home uninjured.
"Deputies identified the dead victim as Khammone Soulasinh and the dead suspect as Kamphone Douangkham. The other shooting victim, Vilakhone Soulasihn, was flown to UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill. Her exact condition isn't known.
"Soulasinh was found shot on the porch and died en route to the hospital, deputies said. Douangkham was found dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound in woods behind the home, deputies said.
"Deputies believe Douangkham forced his way into the home, shot both victims and then fled the home. He was found several hours later during a search, which involved a state Highway Patrol helicopter."
