911 Call Leads Deputies To Murder/Suicide Scene

"MILAM COUNTY, TX — A 28-year-old woman was shot and killed in Milam County on Wednesday, and the man authorities believe killed her then turned the gun on himself and attempted to commit suicide, according to the sheriff's department.

"Milam County Sheriff David Greene said deputies were called to a rural home in the 100 block of County Road 346 around 10:15 a.m. for a possible suicidal person and found Lindsay Ferrill of Katy and 25-year-old Justin Patronella of Houston had been shot.

"Ferrill, who had a single gunshot wound to the head, died at the scene, Greene said. Ferrill's 3-year-old daughter was inside the home but was not hurt. She is in the custody of her deceased mother's family.

"Who initially called 911 remained unclear to investigators, Chief Deputy Chris White said.

"Sheriff's investigators said they believe the couple had been dating. There were no restraining orders against either party, White said, and officers had never been called to the residence before yesterday.

"Patronella was taken by helicopter to St. Joseph hospital in Bryan. His gunshot wound was apparently self-inflicted, Greene said. He was in critical condition late Wednesday afternoon, according to hospital officials."
