Man Shoots Mother-In-Law, Self

"YAKIMA, WA — A man shot his mother-in-law to death then turned the gun on himself in west Yakima this afternoon, police said.

"The shooting took place at about 1:45 p.m. at a small home adjacent storage units in the 1400 block of South 40th Avenue. Other family members were present when the shooting occurred, according to acting Yakima police Chief Greg Copeland.

"The man shot his mother-in-law in the doorway of the home before shooting himself, Copeland said.

"The identities and ages of the two were not immediately available.

"More than a dozen police officers and medics responded to the shooting. Police said an investigation is continuing."
