Bodies Found After Report Of Shots Fired
"UTICA, NY — The man and woman found dead in a house in Oneida County Thursday likely died in a murder/suicide.
"Utica police said Friday that preliminary autopsy results from the Onondaga County Medical Examiner's Office show that 26-year-old Stephanie R Excell was killed by 22-year-old Zachary R. Rogers, who then killed himself.
"Both Excell and Rogers sustained a single gun shot wound to the head, police said.
"Police officers responded around 9:30 a.m. to the house at 1103 Hart St. for a report of shots being fired. The found Excell and Rogers inside. Both resided on Hart Street in Utica.
"Sgt. Steve Hauck, a police department spokesman, said police believe Excell and Rogers were dating at the time of their deaths. Both were Army veterans, he said. Excell is a native of Utica and Rogers is reportedly from California.
"Full autopsy results from the medical examiner are expected to take several weeks. Police are continuing to investigate."
