Nonagenarian Couple Found With Gunshot Wounds

"HYATTSVILLE, MD — Hyattsville police are investigating an attempted murder/suicide that took place Sunday.

"Officers were called to the 5800 block of 31st Avenue for a check on welfare request at about 6:48 p.m., police said. Officers discovered a 90-year-old man and 90-year-old woman each suffering from a gunshot wound upon arrival, police said.

"The male was pronounced dead on the scene. His wife was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

"The incident is being investigated as a murder/suicide."
