Shooter Calls 911 Before Killing Himself

"YORKTOWN, VA — Officials believe a man shot his wife and then died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound Sunday night inside a York County home, a sheriff's office spokesman said.

"`He called 911 and said he had shot his wife,` York-Poquoson Sheriff's Lt. Dennis Ivey said Monday.

"Emergency crews found the couple dead just after 6:45p.m. inside the home on 308 Monument Court. The two people were found dead lying on the floor near the front door and kitchen area, officials said. The two were meeting to sign some documents. It has been determined that this was a `planned murder,` officials said.

"The 68-year-old husband, Kurt Kurosawa, and the 40-year-old wife, Merriam Kurosawa, were legally married but separated, officials said. The wife was living in the 300 block of Monument Court, where the incident occurred, and the husband was living in the 100 block of Chadwick Court in York County.

"The couple had three children, age 11, 13 and 16. The children were at the husband's residence and were not harmed, Ivey said."
