Deputies Find Bodies After 911 Hangup Call
"MAIDSVILLE, WV &mbdash; Monongalia County Sheriff's deputies found two people dead at a home Monday morning and are investigating the case as a murder-suicide.
"Police responded to the home on Merle Yost Road, about 14 miles west of Morgantown, at about 10 a.m. Monday. A 911 hang-up call originated from the residence, prompting the response, Sheriff Al Kisner said.
"`It was a 911 hang up, and then there was other information received by the 911 center that was dispatched to the responding deputy,` Kisner said. `When they got there, the scene was what the deputies found.`
"Kisner said the two people were `family members,` but he did not specify how they were related. Police also did not reveal how the two people died. However, Kisner said foul play is suspected.
"`At this point, we're looking at this as a murder/suicide, unless the investigation goes in another direction,` Kisner said. `It doesn't appear that it will.`
"The names of the victims have not been released, as police notify family members. "

One Dead, One Hospitalized After Botched Murder/Suicide
"ST. MARIES, ID — An Idaho State Police officer who came across a vehicle flashing its emergency lights on state Highway 3 early Sunday morning found a woman with her throat slit, prompting a hunt for her husband that ended in his suicide.
"Benewah County Sheriff Dave Resser said Mary McGreal, 44, was bleeding profusely from her neck in the front seat of the vehicle but was alive and able to speak to the police officer. She was taken to Benewah Community Hospital and eventually flown to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
"Resser said she is in serious condition but is expected to survive.
"The patrol officer spotted the McGreals’ vehicle pulled over on Highway 3, about a mile and a half south of St. Maries, just before 2 a.m. Sunday.
"Sheriff’s deputies began searching for 49-year-old Kurt McGreal.
"They arrived at the couple’s Aspen Lane residence to find streaks of blood on the home near the main door.
"`As we entered we were hit by a large cloud of smoke,` Resser said.
"The deputies were searching for McGreal, Resser said, but also for Mary McGreal’s 9-year-old daughter.
"Deputies located Kurt McGreal on the floor of a room in the house.
"Resser said McGreal had tried to cut his own throat, and then started a fire in the house before shooting himself in the head with a .22 semi-automatic handgun.
"McGreal was alive when deputies entered the home, the sheriff said, but died before he was transported to a hospital.
"The 9-year-old girl, who lived in the home, was with her biological father at the time of the attempted murder-suicide, Resser said, and did not witness any of the incidents."

Police Find Bodies In Parking Lot
"GOSHEN, IN — A 51-year-old Goshen man apparently shot and killed a 48-year-old Goshen woman and then killed himself in the 100 block of North Fifth Street early Monday morning.
"Goshen police said John Eric Haitsma shot and killed ex-girlfriend Millicent Morros and then himself around 7:47 a.m. Police said that the shooting took place after a brief discussion between the two individuals.
"Morros was a paralegal at Yoder, Ainley, Ulmer & Buckingham law office in downtown Goshen.
"Haitsma owned and operated Haitsma Lawn Care and also worked at Liberty Tax Service. He is a former Goshen police officer.
"According to Goshen police, a report of a possible shooting came in at approximately 7:47 a.m. Monday. Upon responding to the scene, Goshen police found two motionless people lying on the ground in the parking lot on the east side of North Fifth Street directly across from the First Quality Cleaners & Laundry business.
"Police immediately had the Lincoln Avenue/Fifth Street intersection blocked off with police vehicles, and yellow police tape was used to cordon off nearly the entire block. Numerous investigators, as well as the coroner, could be seen canvasing the street and nearby parking lots for any signs of evidence.
"Further investigation and witness statements at the scene confirmed that the two subjects, later identified as Haitsma and Morros, both of Goshen, were known to one another, having previously been in a relationship.
