Couple Found On Road Dead
"NEOSHO, MO — The investigation continues into the deaths of two people discovered near a residence on Route AA Thursday.
"`About 2:30 p.m., dispatch received a call from motorist said that they were on AA highway between Gateway Drive and I-49 and that there were two bodies lying on the road,` Newton County Sheriff Ken Copeland said. `When deputies got there, they observed a pickup truck and a passenger vehicle pulled off to the side of the road on Highway AA. There was a male body lying by the truck, and a female’s body lying by the passenger vehicle. Both appeared to have died from gunshot wounds. We did recover a firearm. It appears at this point to look like a homicide-suicide.`
"The pair have been identified as Ann Kelley, 69, and Edwin Kelley, 73, both of Neosho.
"`I don’t know if they are divorced or estranged,` the sheriff said. `We are still checking into that. It appears that both had filed ex parte [orders] against each other, and they were known to the Neosho Police Department to have numerous disturbances and confrontations in the past year over divorce.`
"Autopsies will be conducted Springfield today, the sheriff said."
