WWII Vet, Wife Found Dead

"ORMOND BEACH, FL — An 89-year-old Ormond Beach man called 9-1-1 early Friday and told a sheriff’s dispatcher that he shot his wife who had Alzheimer’s disease. Then he hung up the phone, police said.

"When officers arrived at the home of John Poucher just after midnight, they found both him and his wife Barbara Poucher, 86, dead. The couple each had a single gunshot wound to the head, a police report shows.

"Barbara Poucher was in the bedroom and John Poucher was sitting in a recliner in the living room, police said.

"John Poucher was a World War II veteran who lived on 4 Ribbon Falls Way."
