Couple's History Of Violence Comes To An End
"CANTON, GA — A 51-year-old Canton man shot and killed his wife before turning the gun on himself, the spokesman for the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office said.
"Deputies responded Friday afternoon to a person down call in the 1800 block of Woodberry Court and found the bodies of Cary Landers and his wife Katherine Landers.
"`Ms. Landers had a single gunshot wound to the face,` Lt. Jay Baker with the Cherokee sheriff’s office said in an emailed statement. `Mr. Landers had a gunshot wound in his mouth.`
"A .380 caliber handgun believed to be used in the murder/suicide was located at the scene, he said.
"There was a history of violence between the couple, Baker said. Katherine Landers, 41, was charged in March with battery against her husband, he said.
"`As part of her condition of bond for that offense,` Baker said, `she was not supposed to have contact with Mr. Landers.`"
