Man Kills Himself After Shooting Wife, Kids

"SUGARLAND, TX — Preliminary investigation of the double-fatality shooting incident in New Territory Monday indicates the father/husband of the household murdered his wife, wounded his two children and then committed suicide.

"Just after 6 a.m. Monday, May 5, Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to the scene, located on 4839 Russett Lane, in the New Territory subdivision. Deputies found a 15-year-old girl in the front yard with a gunshot wound. She had made the 9-1-1 call.

"Inside the home, deputies found the bodies of two adults, later identified as Karim Kamdar, 46, and his wife, Nikhat Kamdar, 37. Deputies also found an 11-year-old boy, the couple’s son, who had sustained gunshot wounds as well.

"Scene investigation, forensics analysis and interviews conducted indicate Karim Kamdar was the shooter in the case.

"Evidence shows Karim Kamdar used a handgun to murder his wife, then attempted to kill his daughter and son before turning the gun on himself. The case remains open until all forensics analysis and investigation has been completed.

"The two children were flown to the Hermann-Memorial Hospital where they both underwent surgery. They are still in the hospital and are in stable condition and are expected to recover."
