Disagreement Over Alcohol And Pills Prompts Murder/Suicide
"Roswell, GA - A man shot and killed his father and then turned the gun on himself following a disagreement over alcohol and pills, a Roswell police spokesman said.
"The shooting happened around 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the family's home on Shadowood Court in Roswell.
"`The son was asking the father to provide him with some alcohol and pills,` Sgt. B.C. Brackett told WSB-TV. `When he refused, the son then turned on the father.`
"According to Sgt. Brackett, the 38-year old called his sister to say he didn't mean to hurt their father. She apparantly called neighbors to check on the house. They found the father, in his 60's, dead inside.
"`At the time the witness was in the house, (the son) shot himself,` Sgt. Steve Brackett said. `He fell on top of the father's body, but that shot was not fatal.`
"While witnesses called 9-1-1, the 38-year old got up, walked outside the house, and shot himself again. The second shot was fatal.
"Authorities did not immediately release the names of the men involved, pending notification of family members."
