"BRANDENBURG, KY — Three people found dead inside a Meade County home have been identified by Kentucky State Police.

"According to KSP, Ellen Cain, 42, her live-in boyfriend Warren Earl Tripp, 50, and Cain's 13 year old son all died of gunshot wounds. Neighbors identified the boy as Tucker Wimpee.

"Trooper Jeff Gregory said the bodies were discovered around 8 a.m. Friday at a home in the 300 block of Otterview Court in Brandenburg. The call that brought deputies to the home was made to Meade County 911 to check on the welfare of the residents there.

"State police estimate the deaths occurred around 7 a.m. Gregory said the shootings are being treated as a death investigation and that KSP is not looking for any suspects.

"Tucker Wimpee was the son of Meade County Sheriff's Deputy Phil Wimpee, a resource officer at Meade County High School. He is not involved. Court documents reveal a contentious history between Tripp and Phil Wimpee. In 2006, Tripp was charged with menacing. He was ordered to stay at least 500 feet from Wimpee and to not be present during the exchange of children for visitation.

"Court documents shed some light on a bitter custody battle over the years between Phil Wimpee and Ellen Cain. In 2010 Wimpee tried to get sole custody of Tucker and his older sister. At one point there was an emergency protective order issued for the children to keep them away from their mother's boyfriend, Tripp.

"In an affidavit, the children's father said he worried Tripp had the potential of mentally and emotionally affecting them for the rest of their lives. Neighbors said they never witnessed any trouble."

"PHOENIX, AX — Mike Sanders left his north Phoenix home in his car, stopped a couple blocks away and then walked back to the house to ambush his estranged wife, teenage daughter and brother-in-law, killing them all before he ran and shot himself to death, police said.

"The bodies of Carol Sanders, 51, their 14-year-old daughter, Audrey, and Carol Sanders' 49-year-old brother, Thomas Fitzpatrick, were found Tuesday afternoon, said Phoenix police Sgt. Trent Crump. Mike Sanders' body was later found a short distance away along a bridle path behind the home.

"Carol Sanders had gone to the family's home to gather some personal belongings to set off the horrific chain of events.

"`We found his vehicle at a location a few blocks from here,` Crump said. `He left identification in that vehicle, which indicates to us he was coming up here and knew he may not return.`

"According to court paperwork filed using that address, Carol Sanders filed for divorce and an order of protection less than a month ago.

"Neighbors in the area of 51st Street and Thunderbird Road said they heard gunshots ring out around 4 p.m. Tuesday.

Victim's Body Found In Trash Can Behind False Wall

"NASHVILLE, TN — South Precinct detectives are investigating a bizarre murder/suicide case in South Nashville.

"According to police, the victims were a girlfriend and boyfriend who apparently died days apart. It happened at a home at 928 Ilawood Drive in South Nashville.

"On Monday, officers responded to the home to conduct a welfare check at the request of Jesse Meece's mother. She was told by his employer that he had not been to work since October 30.

"When officers entered Meece's home, they found the 45-year-old dead on the couch from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to his head.

"Officers recalled they had responded to the same home on October 29 for a welfare check on Meece's girlfriend, 45-year-old Beth Straub. Straub's employer had called police on October 29 after she did not show up to work.

"During that welfare check, officers spoke to Meece who was at the home and told police Straub had left and did not return after an argument. He allowed officers to check inside the home, and they did not find Straub.

"According to police reports, officers and crime scene experts found evidence of recent construction in the basement during the investigation Monday night. They discovered a makeshift wall which was covering a 96-gallon wheeled trash can. Attached to the trash can was a PVC pipe that had been run into the home's sewer line. When the lid of the trash can was lifted, detectives found a Plexiglas window surrounded by a foam sealant.

"The trash can was taken intact to the Medical Examiner's Office where it was unsealed. A woman's body thought to be that of Straub's was found inside, along with some deodorizer.

"The police department has no record of any trouble between Meece and Straub.

"The investigation is ongoing."
