"PHOENIX, AX — Mike Sanders left his north Phoenix home in his car, stopped a couple blocks away and then walked back to the house to ambush his estranged wife, teenage daughter and brother-in-law, killing them all before he ran and shot himself to death, police said.
"The bodies of Carol Sanders, 51, their 14-year-old daughter, Audrey, and Carol Sanders' 49-year-old brother, Thomas Fitzpatrick, were found Tuesday afternoon, said Phoenix police Sgt. Trent Crump. Mike Sanders' body was later found a short distance away along a bridle path behind the home.
"Carol Sanders had gone to the family's home to gather some personal belongings to set off the horrific chain of events.

"NASHVILLE, TN — South Precinct detectives are investigating a bizarre murder/suicide case in South Nashville.
"According to police, the victims were a girlfriend and boyfriend who apparently died days apart. It happened at a home at 928 Ilawood Drive in South Nashville.
"On Monday, officers responded to the home to conduct a welfare check at the request of Jesse Meece's mother. She was told by his employer that he had not been to work since October 30.
"When officers entered Meece's home, they found the 45-year-old dead on the couch from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to his head.
"Officers recalled they had responded to the same home on October 29 for a welfare check on Meece's girlfriend, 45-year-old Beth Straub. Straub's employer had called police on October 29 after she did not show up to work.
"During that welfare check, officers spoke to Meece who was at the home and told police Straub had left and did not return after an argument. He allowed officers to check inside the home, and they did not find Straub.
"According to police reports, officers and crime scene experts found evidence of recent construction in the basement during the investigation Monday night. They discovered a makeshift wall which was covering a 96-gallon wheeled trash can. Attached to the trash can was a PVC pipe that had been run into the home's sewer line. When the lid of the trash can was lifted, detectives found a Plexiglas window surrounded by a foam sealant.
"The trash can was taken intact to the Medical Examiner's Office where it was unsealed. A woman's body thought to be that of Straub's was found inside, along with some deodorizer.
"The police department has no record of any trouble between Meece and Straub.

"PLEASANT GROVE, AL — Authorities believe the deaths of a father and son found fatally shot in Pleasant Grove were a murder/suicide, police said Tuesday.

"A relative found their bodies at Don Herring's home at 535 5th Court about 10:53 a.m. They were pronounced dead at 10:57 a.m.

"HODGES, SC — Early Tuesday morning, 41-year-old Felicia Yvette Rayford was found dead in her 2906 Nation Road home in Hodges just before 12:45 a.m. She was found lying in her living room floor. Greenwood coroner Sonny Cox stated she had been shot at least one time.
"Charles Ray Belcher, Sr., age 46, was found about the same time at his home at 234 Devore Road in Donalds. According to The Index Journal, Coroner Ronnie Ashley identified Belcher and stated he died of a gunshot wound to the chest. This contradicts the news story covered by WYFF4, who reported Belcher committed suicide with a gunshot to the head.
"Officials from Greenwood and Abbeville believe the incidents are related. Belcher made a phone call to his brother stating he had killed his girlfriend and was going to kill himself. Belcher then called a female friend, who contacted authorities.
"It appears Belcher went to Yvette Rayford's home, shot her, and then returned home and took his own life.
"State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) and the Abbeville County Sheriff's Office are working on Belcher's case, and the Violent Crimes Task Force continues to investigate the Hodges murder.
"So far there has been no motive released for the shooting. It's believed Yvette and Belcher were in a relationship."

"Investigators have said they have no idea why Larkin would carry out the murder-suicide.
"`We're actively investigating this, conducting a lot of interviews, but right now we're at a loss, actually, as to what the motive was,` he said.
"He said investigators don't know whether the weapon was hers and said that it was unclear whether their relationship went beyond that of caregiver and patient.
"They did not leave a note and employees at Abington Manor said they haven't noticed any unusual behavior from the nurse or the patient.
"`It's a very bizarre incident,` Gerrity said, adding that `we may never know` the motive.
"Larkin had worked there since 2011 and her Facebook profile appears to indicate that she was married. Kinney, from Overfield Township, had lived there for about two years."
