"WOODSTOCK, OH — A woman told 911 that she killed her husband, then fatally shot herself as a Champaign County deputy arrived outside her Woodstock home Saturday evening, authorities said yesterday.

"The dead are identified as Helen Meeks, 53, and David Meeks, 46, according to a release from the Champaign County sheriff’s office.

"The husband and wife died of gunshot wounds, the sheriff’s office said.

"Union County dispatchers received the call from Mrs. Meeks just before 7 p.m. Saturday and transferred it to the Champaign County 911 center. Woodstock is near the Union County line.

"The first deputy who pulled up to 239 E. Bennett St. heard a gunshot come from within the house, the sheriff’s release said.

"Deputies then entered the house and found the couple inside."
