Two Dead In Rural Texas

"ERATH COUNTY, TEXAS — A man in rural Erath County shot and killed his 3-year-old grandson Friday afternoon before turning the weapon on himself, officials said.

"Jose Antonio Torres, 35, was identified by authorities as the grandfather. Miguel Angel Torres, 3, was identified his grandson.

"The murder-suicide is believed to have occurred just before 3 p.m., Erath County Sheriff Tommy Bryant said, when the elder Torres arrived home to find his 15-year-old daughter wasn’t there. The daughter is Miguel’s mother, Bryant said, and the two lived with Torres and his wife.

"While Torres was outside on the way to the car with Miguel in tow, he shot at his wife with a rifle, Bryant said, but missed.

"`He got into his Chevrolet pickup and drove a few 100 yards away from the residence`, he said. `His wife followed and found them both shot in the head.`

"The bodies have been sent to the Tarrant County Medical Examiners Office for an autopsy, Bryant said.

"Bryant said the man and the child were both pronounced dead at the scene of the crime on County Road 309 — off FM 219 near Purves.

Two Dead In "Knife Incident"

"HUGER, SC — In what authorities said was a murder-suicide by knife, a married couple died Friday from stab wounds.

"The names of the deceased have not been released, pending notification of next of kin.

"Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Dan Moon said a woman was dead in a home at 458 Berk Road when authorities arrived just after noon. A man found in the home was alive but bleeding badly, and died after being taken to a hospital.

"The couple sustained their wounds in a confrontation that began with an argument, Berkeley County Coroner Bill Salisbury said. `We are calling it a homicide-suicide, with the homicide victim being the woman,` Salisbury said.

"He said a knife believed to have made all of the wounds has been recovered.

"The couple actually lived in a nearby home and not the one where the fatal wounds were inflicted, Salisbury said. He said the home where the stabbings took place was the home of the couple's relatives.

"Moon said late in the afternoon that investigators were still working the scene, in a home off of a dirt road that connects to S.C. Highway 41, and at the edge of the Francis Marion National Forest.

"Moon said investigators determined that the only two people involved in the knife incident were the couple that died. There no other suspects to pursue, he assured.

"`We believe that the only people involved were the two who are deceased,` he said.
Moon said someone reportedly flagged down a car near S.C. Highway 41 to get word of the incident to the sheriff’s office."

"Chad Hunt of the U.S. Marshal's Tulsa office confirmed that Terencio Turcios, 41, is dead.

"Turcios was wanted for a homicide in Tulsa and one in Glenpool on Wednesday.

"He was the suspect in the deaths of his estranged wife, Victoria Turcios, and a co-worker of Victoria, David Grummert of Glenpool.

"Marshals believed Turcios might be headed to Houston, then received a tip that a family member from that city came to pick him up in McAlester.

Surrounded By Police, Runaway Dad Kills Himself

"OLD BRIDGE, NJ — A New Jersey man sought in the slaying of his ex-wife fled with their two young daughters and hid out at a quaint upstate New York motel while police in the two states launched a desperate search, which ended Friday when he was found dead inside his room from an apparent suicide.

"Anthony Trapp’s daughters were unharmed when they were coaxed out of the open door of their father’s room around 7:30 a.m. Friday by some of the dozens of New York state troopers who had surrounded the five-room motel 45 miles north of New York City.

"Police believe Trapp had already killed himself when the older girl, who’s 5, opened the door, state police Maj. Ed Raso said.

"`We were able to motion to her, and she came out,` followed moments later by her 20-month-old sibling, he said.

"Members of the state police special operations team scooped them up, wrapped them in blankets and carried them to safety before they were placed in the temporary custody of relatives.

"Police then spent more than an hour trying to communicate with Trapp by phone and bullhorn. At 8:40, troopers entered the room and found Trapp, 39, dead on a bed, Capt. Joseph Tripodo said.

"Authorities said Trapp apparently killed himself; they didn’t release details but said he didn’t shoot himself. His body was removed from the motel Friday afternoon.

"The discovery of Trapp’s body ended a 12-hour ordeal that began when police in Old Bridge, N.J., alerted by relatives concerned about the safety of his ex-wife, 37-year-old Heather Trapp, found her body inside his tidy suburban home.

"The Middlesex County, N.J., medical examiner’s office determined she had been stabbed multiple times and classified her death as a homicide.

"Middlesex County prosecutors said Heather Trapp had gone to the home to pick up her daughters late Thursday afternoon after the girls had visited with their father. Police found her body around 8 p.m.

"Amber Alerts notifying the public that two children had been abducted were issued in New Jersey and New York. They were canceled when the girls were found safe."
