"IRWINDALE, CA — A gunman opened fire at a southern California office Friday afternoon, killing two people and injuring at least two others before apparently turning the gun on himself and taking his own life.
"The rampage happened at the Irwindale, CA, office building of the Southern California Edison power company.
"A source told the L.A. Times the shooter was an employee there.
"One victim died at the scene and another died on the way to hospital, according to the Times report. Two other victims were being treated, but their conditions are not known.
"At least some of the victims are believed to be Edison employees. Others inside the building reportedly hunkered down and locked office doors after the gunfire began.
"Several schools in the area went into lockdown for a time."
