Argument Over Alcohol Leads To Attempted Murder/Suicide
"PIONEER, CA — A 54-year-old Pioneer woman is recovering in the hospital today from a gunshot wound to her neck, after her father tried to kill her at a home on the 23000 block of Robin Road in Pioneer, according to a release from the Amador County Sheriff's Office.
"William David Matz, 74, is suspected of firing several shots at his daughter during an argument about his consumption of alcohol, the release said.
"The victim told deputies that her father became very angry, went to a room and retrieved a gun, the release said. He then shot her several times, striking her once, the release continued. He then turned the gun on himself and was later found by deputies with a gunshot wound to his head, the release said.
"The victim was transported by ambulance to a waiting helicopter that flew her to Mercy San Juan Medical Center in Sacramento for treatment."
