Two Dead In Hospital Shooting

"DOVER, NH — A New Hampshire man wrote an upbeat post about his plan to kill his ailing wife in a `double suicide`—and then carried out the deed inside her hospital room.

"`Love you all, peace out!` concluded the message, which was posted on Facebook just minutes before Mark Lavoie carried out the murder/suicide inside of Dover’s Wentworth-Douglass Hospital Tuesday morning.

"Authorities did not identify the shooter or the victim, but Lavoie’s sister confirmed her brother was the gunman.

Police Not Searching For Suspects

"HAZLET, NJ — The residential neighborhood on Peter Place, where two bodies were found Saturday, seemed quiet and peaceful Monday morning—almost a world away from the crime scene that drew police.

"Thomas C. Huth, director of the major crimes bureau at the Monmouth Prosecutors Office, confirmed the deceased as Christine Dzienisiewski and her husband Richard Dzienisiewski.

"Two days ago police found a man and woman, both 37, in what authorities say may be a murder/suicide. There was still some police tape sectioning off a small part of the house Monday morning, but almost nothing else seemed out of the ordinary.

"The crime scene blended in with other houses on Peter Place with Christmas decorations and manicured front lawns. Snowflake decorations adorned the walkway of the house, leading up to the front porch.

"Christine Dzienisiewski died as a result of a homicide, Huth said. He confirmed that Richard died as a result of self-inflicted wounds, but he could not offer more details as the investigation is pending.

"Webster said authorities are not searching for any suspects, and that the community is not in danger."

Four Found Dead In Texas Home

"CROWLEY, TX — Crowley police say a woman and her two teenage daughters who were found dead in their home Sunday were victims of a murder/suicide.

"Samuel Morales, 36, was also found dead at the home the family shared on Kennedy Drive. Police suspect he killed the three others, but spared a 9-year-old boy, before turning the gun on himself, Crowley police Chief Luis Soler said Tuesday at a press conference.

"`The brave 9-year-old boy is doing the best as he can under these circumstances,` Soler said. `He’ll be all right. We’ll take care of him.`

"The victims, Xiomara Leon, 34, Linda Gonzalez, 18, and Yasmine Zavala, 13, were identified early Tuesday by the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office. The youngest victim was strangled, and Leon and Gonzalez were both shot repeatedly, the ME says.

"A 9-year-old boy found unharmed at the home called a relative who then called 911 to report that a man had committed suicide at the family’s home.

"Leon and Morales were in a romantic relationship for four years, but police did not know whether they were married. The 9-year-old boy, Gonzalez and Zavala were Leon’s children. Leon and Morales did not have any children together. They all lived in the home together.

"Soler said investigators are still trying to establish a timeline in the case. They have not said who Morales killed first or what led to the slayings. He also said it’s unclear why the 13-year-old girl was strangled and the others were shot.

"`At this point, I don’t know if we’ll ever know why it took place,` Soler said."

"HARRISON, AR — Police are investigating a possible murder/suicide at a residence on Bunn Ave. East in Harrison Wednesday.

"According to Harrison Police Department's Chief Paul Woodruff, police were called to the home by Sheila Fredrick, 46, who said her estranged husband, William Fredrick, 42, was trying to kick in her door and armed with a gun.

"When police arrived, they found Sheila’s 13-year-old son outside the home. He said he saw William kick in the door and come inside with a gun. The boy then picked up a baseball bat and hit the gun, causing it to discharge and fall from William’s hand.

"The boy ran to his bedroom, locked the door and crawled out a window to find help. He said he heard to gunshots from inside the home.

"The first officer who arrived on scene went into the home and attempted to open a back bedroom door that seemed to be barricaded. Additional officers forced open the door, which was blocked by Sheila's body.

"Woodruff says both William and Sheila were dead from apparent gunshot wounds.

"Evidence from the home and the bodies will be sent to the state crime lab for examination.

"The sheriff's department was waiting for warrants on William for three separate incidents when the murder/suicide happened.

"Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Vetri Ferman says police found Stone's body at around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday about a half-mile from his Pennsburg home.

"She says he died of apparent self-inflicted cutting wounds to the center of his body. Officials are still waiting on a coroner to determine cause of death.

"Monday's shooting rampage started before dawn at the home of Stone's former sister-in-law in Souderton and ended about 90 minutes later at ex-wife Nicole Stone's apartment in nearby Harleysville, prosecutors said.

"His former wife, 33-year-old Nicole Stone, was found dead after a neighbor saw Stone fleeing just before 5 a.m. Monday with their two young daughters. The girls were later found safe with Stone's neighbors.

"Police then made the grim discovery of five people killed in two other houses.

Dad Disabled Airbags Before Fatal Crash

"CASTAIC, CA — The theory that a Lancaster man deliberately killed himself and his two children by slamming his car into a parked truck on Interstate 5 was bolstered by the discovery of airbag sensors apparently removed from the vehicle, a homicide detective said Wednesday.

"Alan Dean Edwards, 46, and his two children—Erick Dean Edwards, 8, and Alona Marie Edwards, 5—were killed instantly early Monday when the car driven by Edwards rammed into a semi-truck and trailer parked legally off the I-5 north of Castaic, according to the county coroner.

"When asked Wednesday if the crash was a murder/suicide, sheriff’s homicide Lt. Eddie Hernandez replied, `It’s starting to look that way.`

"Detectives searched the Edwards home Tuesday and found two airbag sensors left in `a conspicuous place,` suggesting the devices that trigger the release of life-saving airbags had been deliberately removed from the 1997 Honda Accord Alan Edwards was driving.

"`It was kind of like a statement,` Hernandez said of the placement of the relay sensors.

"The crash occurred shortly before 1 a.m. Monday on the southbound side of the I-5 at the Whittaker Brake Check, an area where truckers can pull out of lanes to check their brakes before a five-mile downgrade.

"The Yuba City driver of a 2006 Freightliner and utility semi-trailer was parked legally in the brake check area and taking a nap when Edwards’ white Honda slammed into the back of his trailer, shearing off the top of the car. The truck driver was not injured.

"Investigators with both the CHP and the coroner’s department concluded the crash was deliberate and that Edwards purposely drove around obstacles in his path before the collision, Hernandez said Tuesday."

"Perfect Couple" Found Dead In Apartment

"ARLINGTON, VA — To his girlfriend’s family, Ray Savoy seemed an attentive, loving boyfriend. The 29-year-old carried Kristy Flowers, an aspiring lawyer, up and down the stairs after she had surgery on her foot and often made sure that her baths were accompanied by candles and chocolates. About a month ago, Savoy broached the subject of marrying Flowers with her mother, father and other relatives.

"But there were signs of trouble, mostly in hindsight. On a trip to visit Flowers’s family in Ohio, Savoy drank a lot and talked about a gun he kept in his car, Flowers’s brother said. The young man seemed unusually interested in his girlfriend’s hugging a male friend, her mother and father said. And his talk of marriage came after only months of dating, a little premature for some in Flowers’s family.

"On Tuesday, police officials in Arlington County said they believe that Savoy fatally shot Flowers, 31, inside the apartment they shared on North Kensington Street in the Westover neighborhood, then shot and killed himself. Their bodies were discovered late Monday afternoon, after Flowers’s mother, concerned that she hadn’t been able to reach her daughter all weekend, got in touch with an apartment maintenance man, who contacted police. Lt. Kip Malcolm, a police department spokesman, said detectives found a handgun in the home. Arlington police had never been called to the apartment for domestic violence.

"`To me, they were like the perfect couple,` said Patricia Flowers, Kristy Flowers’s mother. `There was nothing to indicate that he was a violent person.`"

"Time To Die"

"ROSEVILLE, MI — Announcing it was `time to die,` a 55-year-old Roseville man shot his live-in girlfriend in the chest and then turned the gun on himself, police said.

"The woman, 55, who survived the Saturday night attack, was in extremely critical condition at a local hospital, Roseville Police Chief James Berlin said today. The boyfriend was dead with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head when police arrived in the 26000 block of Ridgemont, Berlin said.

"Police were sent to the area about 11:15 p.m. Saturday on a report of gunshots being fired and a woman screaming for help. They found the woman, who Berlin did not name, lying in the driveway of the home, wounded. A short distance away was her boyfriend's body, police said.

"The pair shared the home on 26378 Ridgemont, apparently for at least a few years. The man, who Berlin identified as Michael Joseph Powell, had been suffering long-term health issues.

"But, he said, Powell had been drinking heavily that day or night, which exacerbated his medical condition, leading the couple to argue. Part of the argument, Berlin said, was about Powell's drinking.

"During the argument, the girlfriend told police, Powell pulled out a .380-caliber, semiautomatic handgun and pointed it at her and said it was `time to die,` Berlin said. He said Powell fired a shot at her inside the home and missed, hitting a bedroom wall.

"She fled the house, screaming for help, alerting neighbors who immediately called police. She took cover behind a car, but the man found her and shot at her, hitting her once in the chest, police said.

"He then walked a short distance and turned the gun on himself, taking his own life, police said.

"`It's kind of a tragedy all the way around,` Berlin said."

Four Murdered, Killer Found Dead In Truck

"MORGANTOWN, WV — A West Virginia man suspected in four killings in separate shootings was discovered dead in his truck of a self-inflicted gunshot wound after a nine-hour manhunt, police said Monday.

"Jody Lee Hunt, 39, of Westover was found in a clearing in the woods in the southern part of Monongalia County, inside his 2011 Ford F-150, according to state police.

"The vehicle and body were found about 7 pm in `a power line right of way,` spokesman Lt. Dennis Johnson said.

"Hunt was wanted in two shootings in the Westover area and another in the Cheat Lake area in Monongalia County, spokesman Lt. Michael Baylous said. Medical officials will work to confirm the identity of the body, he said.

"Officials said they would not release further information Monday night. On Tuesday, investigators at each of the three crime scenes will `sit down and piece all those puzzle pieces together and find out how this all happened,` Baylous said.

"Into Monday evening, state and local police had fanned out in search of Hunt, who was believed to be driving a 2011 Ford F-150 extended cab truck with license plate OLK 303.

"The truck reportedly has a sticker reading `Rough Country` in the back window and a Black Tonneau cover over the bed, reports the station.

"State police spokesman Lt Michael Baylous identified the two victims killed in the Cheat Lake area as Berkshire of Westover, as well as Michael David Frum, 28. They were found inside a home.

"The third identified victim, Doug Brady, was found dead inside his Westover business, Doug's Towing.

"A November 7 Facebook post from Berkshire appears to show the very same truck Hunt is believed to have been driving, along with the words, 'New ride for this girl !!!!'

"According to Monongalia County Circuit Court records, Berkshire filed a domestic violence case against Hunt some time last month.

"Unfortunately, her efforts appear to have come too late. Court records also indicated there were no protective orders currently in place for Berkshire."
