Killer Talks To Cop Before Shooting Himself
"GWINNETT COUNTY, GA — A Gwinnett County man shot and killed himself in front of a police officer Monday afternoon. Officers then found the body of a woman who had been shot to death in the home, police said.
"Officers responded to a home in unincorporated Lawrenceville shortly after 2 p.m. due to a residential alarm, according to Cpl. Jake Smith with Gwinnett County police. A man, whose name was not released, opened the door of the Resthaven Drive home and answered an officer’s questions before pulling out a gun, Smith said.
"`After a few seconds the male produced a handgun and committed suicide,` Smith said in an emailed statement. `The male did not attempt to engage the officer before shooting himself.`
"Inside the home, officers found the body of a woman, believed to be the man’s wife, Smith said. The woman appeared to have been shot to death.
"Investigators had not determined a motive late Monday afternoon and were attempting to locate next of kin, Smith said."
