Dead Couple Had History Of Health Issues
"KINGSPORT, TN — Police are investigating a suspected murder-suicide in the Ridgefields community, where the co-founder of a Kingsport financial planning firm and his wife were found dead late Tuesday night.
"At approximately 11:15 p.m. police were alerted to the shooting at 433 High Ridge Road. Kingsport Police Department Lt. Bob Abernathy says a third party contacted authorities, reporting they had received a call from a male at the residence who claimed his wife was dead.
"Police responded to find resident Norman Hensley, 77, and his wife Mary Anne Hensley, 66, suffering fatal gunshot wounds. Abernathy declined to comment on whether any notes were left behind, but confirmed a gun was found at the scene.
"In 1966 Norman Hensley co-founded Bingham and Hensley Resources, a financial planning firm located on East Center Street. A biography on the company's website says he had four children and 12 grandchildren. Current president Jeff Bingham says Hensley retired from the firm in 2005.
"`We do not know the details surrounding their deaths,` Bingham [said]. `Our thoughts and prayers go out to Norman and Anne's family and friends.`
"Lt. Abernathy noted there is no previous history of violence between the couple, or domestic disturbances at their residence. On Wednesday an individual outside a neighboring property was shocked by the news of their deaths, [saying] the Hensleys had a history of health issues."
