Employee Finds Bodies At Storage Unit
"COLUMBUS, GA — A 38-year-old Army captain apparently shot a 27-year-old woman and then turned the gun on himself Tuesday afternoon near an open storage unit at American Storage Rental Spaces, officials said.
"Both were pronounced dead at 4:35 p.m., Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan said.
"Bryan said the bodies would be sent to Atlanta Wednesday for an official autopsy. Each person had a single gunshot wound.
"The weapon, a .40 caliber Smith & Wesson, was recovered.
"Captain J.D. Hawk said they received the call at 4:13 p.m. An employee was checking the grounds and found the bodies next to an open storage unit on the property at 3560 Victory Drive.
"Bryan said it appears the shooting happened around 2:50 p.m.
"The woman, Bryan said, was wearing what looked like an engagement ring.
"A vehicle that was taken from the scene had a Texas license plate."
