Police Find Elderly Couple Dead

"PHOENIX, AZ — Police say an elderly couple died in a murder/suicide Friday afternoon in a north Phoenix senior living community.

"First reports of the shooting came in around 3 p.m. at LifeStream Senior Living in northeast Phoenix, located near Loop 101 and Cave Creek Road.

"A Phoenix police lieutenant on scene [said] that a married couple in their 80s has died.

"According to police, officers were called to the home Friday by the couple's son after his father allegedly told him he was going to shoot himself and his wife. Responding officers found the man and woman dead inside the residence.

"The woman was reportedly suffering from Alzheimer's and several other health issues, police [said].

"The couple had been married for 66 years."
