"Foul Odor" Leads Police To Gruesome Scene

"CASPER, WY — A routine welfare check by Casper Police on Friday turned into an apparent murder/suicide investigation, authorities said Monday morning.

"Police were called to an apartment in the 1200 block of Boulder Drive shortly before 7 p.m. Friday, Lt. Mike Thompson said. A resident of the apartment complex requested a welfare check for their neighbors because they smelled a foul odor coming from the apartment.

"Police discovered a man and a woman, both in their 20s and presumed to be in a relationship, whom police believe had been deceased for few days, Thompson said. Officers remained on the scene until the early morning hours of Saturday.

"Police believe the two people died of gunshot wounds, but a coroner will determine the causes of death this week, Thompson said."
