"WILMETTE, IL - Police checking on a home found the bodies of a man, woman and teenage boy who were killed in an apparent murder-suicide.

"A preliminary investigation suggests the woman and teenager were shot to death and the man died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, Wilmette Deputy Police Chief Brian King said in a statement.

"Authorities did not release the names of those killed, pending notification of relatives.

"When officers arrived at the locked home they were not able to reach anyone inside and forced their way in, King said.

"Investigators are looking into the backgrounds of those slain, said King.

"The teenager was a 17-year-old senior at New Trier Township High School, District 203 Supt. Linda Yonke told the Chicago Tribune.

"`He was just a really nice, nice young man,` she said. `He was very well known and loved.`"

"CHESAPEAKE, VA - Police say a grandmother gave her 19-year-old autistic grandson an overdose of prescription medications before taking them herself, resulting in the death of both.

"Officers on Friday were called to the 3100 block of Ida Street for an unresponsive person, according to a news release from the Chesapeake Police Department this afternoon. They found Terrell Stepney, 19, breathing irregularly and 55-year-old Constance Stepney dead in the house.

"Terrell Stepney was taken to Chesapeake Regional Medical Center and put on life support. He died Saturday at 5:45 p.m.

"An `extensive investigation` determined that Constance Stepney had given her grandson an unknown amount of prescription drugs before consuming them, Boykin wrote."

"Albuquerque, NM - An Albuquerque couple was shot to death in northeast Albuquerque Monday morning in what police believe was a murder-suicide.

"Nadine Hamby, a spokeswoman for the Albuquerque Police Department, says officers discovered a male and female had been shot at a home in the 600 block of Caughran NE.

"Hamby says the male died at the scene while the female died at University of New Mexico Hospital.

"Officials have not released any names or additional information."

Dispute Over House Leads To Murder, Suicide

"In a fit of rage, a man allegedly stabbed his wife to death and then tried to commit suicide in Nidhan Singh Nagar in the Civil City area under Haibowal police station on late Saturday evening. The man has been admitted to the DMC Hospital in a critical condition.

"Deceased woman Santosh Kumari (47) was allegedly killed by her husband Surinder Pal (50), a halwai owing to some dispute.

"Surinder Pal, who allegedly tried to commit suicide by slitting his throat with the same knife used to kill his wife, was operated upon late last night but his condition is still stated to be serious.

"According to police sources, the incident came to light on late Saturday evening when Pooja, the eldest daughter of the couple, returned home. When she knocked the door, her father, who was profusely bleeding from the neck opened the door. She then found her mother in a pool of blood on the bed. Pooja raised the alarm and the couple was rushed to the DMC hospital but the doctors declared Santosh Kumari dead on arrival.

"Sources said as the economic condition of the family was not very good, Surinder Pal wanted to sell his house but his wife Santosh had reservations on the matter and it had led to repeated heated arguments between the couple in the recent past. Sources said that on Saturday morning too, a heated argument broke between the husband and wife. Sources suspect that when no one was in the house, the couple might have quarrelled again."

"EL DORADO HILLS, CA - Detectives are investigating an attempted murder-suicide in El Dorado Hills.

"It happened at The Vineyard Apartment Complex on Valley View Parkway and White Rock Road.

"The El Dorado County Sheriff's Department received a call around six o'clock Saturday night from a caller who said they heard multiple gunshots.

"A source close to the investigation [says] that when deputies arrived on the scene they found a women (sic) in her twenties shot inside her car in the garage and was pronounced dead at the scene. The unidentified woman lived at the apartment complex with her mother and seven-year-old son. The gunman, believed to be the woman's estranged husband, apparently turned the gun on himself and shot himself in the head. He is still alive and in critical condition at UC Davis Medical Center."
