Police Find Unmarried Couple Shot
"FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, NJ — The double-shooting at a Somerset County home Tuesday is now being investigated as a murder suicide, according to the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office.
"Capt. Jack Bennett, a spokesman for the office, said around 5 p.m. Tuesday that a woman transported from a garden apartment at 165 Hempsted Drive earlier in the day has since died.
"But Bennett declined to provide more information about the investigation, including the identity of the woman, or a man found dead in the apartment. He said names would be released only after family members have been notified.
"Franklin Township Police responded to reports of a shooting at the Hempstead Gardens apartment complex at 11:38 a.m., where they found a 50-year-old man had been shot and killed, Bennett said earlier Tuesday.
"Police also found a 35-year-old woman who had sustained a gunshot wound to the head, and the woman was taken to a local hospital, he said.
"Bennett said the two were living together, but not married.
"It was not immediately known who fired the weapon."
