Sheriff Arrives Too Late
"TYLER, TX — Two East Texans are dead after an apparent murder/suicide. Smith County officials say Friday evening they responded to the home of James and Karen Malone and found the pair with gunshot wounds.
"Officials say Karen Malone was in the process of filing for a divorce from her husband, 53-year-old James Malone. She was traveling to their home located off of FM 2661 around 6:45 Friday evening to gather documents when she was confronted by her husband, who apparently shot Karen in the chest and then shot himself.
"Upon arrival, authorities say Karen was still breathing, but she later died at ETMC Tyler. James Malone was found dead at the scene.
"Officials also say that Karen had recently moved out of the home and that she had called the sheriff's office to alert them that she was going to the home. She also says that her husband was not supposed to be at the home at that time. When officials did not hear back from her, they responded to the home and discovered the bodies.
"James Milton Malone has had multiple arrests in the past from Smith County Sheriff's including driving with a suspended license in 2002."

This was my aunt he killed. Authorities in this area are clueless. They could've stopped this tragedy. Complaints should be filed.
