Family Friend Finds Bodies Of Couple
"PORT ARTHUR, TX — Port Arthur Police are investigating what they say is a possible murder/suicide involving a husband and wife.
"Investigators said when 46 year old Jimmie Jenkinson and 44 year old Angelique Jenkinson didn't show up to a family friend's house Saturday. When they couldn't be reached by phone, the friend went to check on them at their home on 2801 Beldon Dr. in Port Arthur and discovered their bodies.
"Police said they got the call around 2:30 p.m. Saturday from the friend. When they arrived, they discovered both Angelique and Jimmie Jenkinson with gunshot wounds. Investigators said they do not believe anyone else was involved.
"Police said Jimmie Jenkinson was a former deputy for the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office. A spokesman for the sheriff's office said Jenkinson resigned last spring while he was under investigation for a family violence incident and later was acquitted. A neighbor told [reporters] he's heard the couple yelling in the yard before.
"`It is my understanding that there has been no family violence convictions. It is my understanding the police have been out to their house several times on domestic disturbances,` Port Arthur Police Sgt. Scott Gaspard said.
"Police said the couple married in 2012 and that each had children from previous marriages. Three children lived at the house, none of whom were home at the time. They said the couple did not have any children
together.
"Autopsies were conducted on both bodies Sunday morning. Police said they are waiting for results to determine causes of death."
