Unidentified Couple Pronounced Dead At Scene

"NEW ORLEANS, LA — Cops say a man apparently murdered a woman and then killed himself in Gentilly.

"`Homicide Detectives are investigating a murder/suicide involving an unidentified male and female,` Officer Frank Robertson said in a news release. `The victims were discovered inside of a residence in the 2800 block of Fortin Street.`

"He says they were called to the home to check on the residents.

"`Detectives conducted a wellbeing check for the occupant of the residence. Once inside officers discovered the unresponsive victims on the floor of a bedroom. The female victim was possibly shot once while the male apparently died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the body. Both were pronounced dead on the scene.`"
