Paper Carrier Finds Ominous Note
"PLATTSBURGH, NY — A husband and wife are dead following an early morning murder/suicide in the City of Plattsburgh.
"In a media release, Plattsburgh Police Chief Desmond Racicot said a paper carrier called 911 after seeing a note posted on the door of a Maryland Road home advising of a murder/suicide.
"Racicot said the call came in 5:10 am on Monday. Responding officers entered the home and found 61-year-old Ann Cashman deceased in a bedroom. She suffered gunshots wounds.
"A note found inside the home directed officers to the city marina parking lot on Dock Street, where officers located a pickup truck matching the description of the vehicle missing from the home.
"Police cordoned off the marina and called in the department’s special response team. Utilizing armored rescue vehicles, the team located 63-year-old Wayne Cashman deceased a short distance from the truck. Police say he suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
"Police say the investigation is ongoing and they’re still trying to figure out a motive."
