Police Have No Doubts In Death Of Couple

"HOT SPRINGS, AR — Hot Springs police say the death of an elderly couple whose bodies were found in their home last week was a murder/suicide.

"Authorities found the bodies of 74-year-old Irving Eugene Marshall Sr. and his 73-year-old wife Deartis M. Flanigan Marshall inside their home on 116 Mayflower Street last Tuesday.

"Police and emergency medical personnel responded to the residence after receiving a welfare check request.

"Hot Springs police said then the deaths appeared suspicious. The bodies were sent for an autopsy to the state crime lab in Little Rock.

"The department's detective Jon Burfeind says the autopsy showed Marshall killed his wife and then took his own life.

"Burfeind says, `There was no doubt it was a murder/suicide.`"
