Wife Critical, Husband Pronounced Dead At Scene


"MISSION, TX — Authorities are investigating a domestic violence incident that ended with a man shooting his wife and then turning the gun on himself.

"It all happened at a home at 8215 Camino Escondido just one block west of Juarez-Lincoln High School around 12:05 a.m. Tuesday.

"Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office deputies were called out to the home when a woman called 911 to report that she had been shot by her husband.

"Both deputies and paramedics arrived at the scene and found the 33-year-old woman with several gunshot wounds but was still alive.

"Investigators reported finding the body of her 42-year-old husband with a single gunshot wound.

"Paramedics rushed the woman to a local hospital where she remains in critical condition.

"Hidalgo County Pct. 3-1 Justice of the Peace Luis Garza pronounced the man dead at 3:28 a.m. Tuesday.

"Authorities have not released the identities of the man or the woman and an exact motive is not clear but an autopsy has been ordered to learn more about the man's death."
