"DANVILLE, IL — Danville police are investigating the deaths of two people in what may be a homicide-suicide that happened in the 100 block of North Franklin on Saturday night."Director of Public Safety Larry Thomason said police received a call of a domestic disturbance at an apartment on Franklin Street about 8:15 p.m. When police arrived, they were told that a man with a knife was holding a woman inside. Officers forced their way into the apartment and found a 32-year-old female lying on the living room floor and a 31-year-old male lying behind the front door.
"The female was deceased at the scene and the male was transported to Provena United Samaritans Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead a short time after arrival, Thomason said in a news release. The female, who lived in the apartment, knew the male, who is a Danville area resident.
"Thomason said late Saturday that detectives and crime scene personnel continue to work at the scene and witnesses are being interviewed.
"The names of the victims are not being released pending notification of next of kin."
