Rude Awakening Leaves Two Dead, One Injured
"NEW CHICAGO, IL - A man and a woman are dead after an apparent murder-suicide Wednesday morning in New Chicago.
"Jessica Northey, 25, was shot multiple times by Portage resident Paul Chnupa, 37, who then turned the gun on himself, according to Marco Kuyachich, chief of police for the Lake County Sheriff's Department.
"Shortly before 6:30 a.m., Kuyachich said, Chnupa made his way into a house at 3153 Wisconsin St., walked up the stairs and entered the bedroom to confront Northey and Jacob Guzman in bed.
"Police say Chnupa shot Guzman, 26, in the shoulder, and Guzman managed to flee the house, knocking on neighbors' doors for help. Guzman underwent surgery at St. Mary Medical Center in Hobart.
"Kuyachich said Chnupa then turned to Northey, shooting her several times. Then, he shot himself. Police found a .45-caliber Glock pistol at the scene. Northey was pronounced dead at the scene by the Lake County Coroner's Office at 8:09 a.m.
"A police investigation revealed that Chnupa and Northey had recently been in a relationship that had gone south, Kuyachich said. Northey had moved into Guzman's house a week ago.
"There were six other people in the house at the time of the shooting, including Northey's 9-year-old son. They fled the premises.
"The Lake County Sheriff's Department and the New Chicago Police Department are investigating."

i cant believe i am just now reading this. first off i want to say that i was there with jessica and lived through this with her and had to give a witness statement and lots more but ill get to that. First things first of there was no love between them ever! Paul wanted jessica and she didnt want him. he was a life long friend. but he wanted more if he couldnt have her then no one else could in his eyes. second, the first part is true jake did go to the neighbors and the police came but when they got there they told everyone to come outside so we did. then i told them that her 8 year old son was in the house and i needed to get him. they wouldnt let me and they retrieved him. we then were taking to the new chicago police station where it took forever to find a emergency contact for her son because I was his emergency contact, i didnt know his dad or familys numbers. we then get someone, and we are transferred to the crown point big head honco place and was made to give a witness statement. and after i was released from that my world crashed down. i had to go back to that house where it looked like it was a big CSI scene, and grab our belongings, and go on with my life and much more. but this is the real story this is what happened. not some love affair or relationship. just some crazy ass person! because i had lived with jessica before she lived with paul, while she lived with paul, and around when she was with jake. just needed to get this off my chest!
