Murder/Suicide Mom Had "Psychiatric Issues"

"ST. LOUIS, MO - A three year old girl is dead, apparently stabbed by her own mother who then shot and killed herself. The husband and father returned to the family home on North Taylor around 8:15pm Sunday night to find the tragic scene, his dead wife, Tiffany Owens, 27, and his little girl, Taylor Johnson, 3, clinging to life with a stab wound to the chest. The child died later at a hospital. Investigators say a suicide note from the mother was found in the home.

"Eric Van Ross, St. Louis Police Department said this, `We do know that the mother did have some known psychiatric issues, so at this time it appears this is a murder-suicide, but the investigation is still ongoing, and if anything develops that indicates it's something different, this could certainly take another turn, but at this time it does appear to be a murder-suicide.`

"Police have not yet released the victims' names."
