Bodies Found During Welfare Check

"DAVIE, FL - Davie Police say the two bodies found inside a Forrest Ridge home belonged to 65-year-old Jerold Hoffer and his wife, 57-year-old Marilyn Ann Mass. Davie police said the bodies were part of a murder-suicide carried out by Jerrold.

"According to Davie Police, they first responded to the home at 2811 Morning Glory Lane for a welfare check. Family members had not heard from Jerrold since October 12.

"Davie Police said their investigation showed that Mass had served Hoffer with divorce papers in September. She came home from work around 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Police say she was in the kitchen cooking dinner when Hoffer then shot her in the head.

"After the murder, Davie Police say Hoffer went into the family room and shot himself in the head. Hoffer's body was found with a handgun at his feet."
